Moorea is the closest island to Tahiti being just 11 miles away and can be reached by means of a short 15 minute flight or 30-50 minute boat trip. Often likened to James Michener's mythical island 'Bali Hai', Moorea has some spectacular bays and mountains. The island's volcanic peaks, reflected in the clear tranquil waters of Cook's Bay and Opunohu Bay, have slopes that are covered with pineapple plantations, while white sand beaches border crystalline lagoons. Explore the island by taking a Circle Island tour or the shorter Moorea Highlights tour. Alternatively, Safari tours explore the wonders of the island's interior valleys.
