WE ARE SAD TO REPORT THAT ON THURSDAY 28TH MAY 2020, THE INTERCONTINENTAL GROUP MADE THE DIFFICULT DECISION THAT THE INTERCONTINENTAL MOOREA RESORT WILL NOT RE-OPEN WHEN LOCKDOWN RESTRICTIONS HAVE BEEN LIFTED. AT THIS TIME, THEY HAVE NO INFORMATION AS TO WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE RESORT, BUT WE HOPE THAT INVESTORS OR A NEW BUYER WILL STEP IN AND SAVE THIS WONDERFUL RESORT FROM PERMANENT CLOSURE. WE WILL UPDATE WITH FURTHER INFORMATION WHEN ADVISED.
This luxurious Polynesian hideaway is located in Papetoai, on the Northwest coast of Moorea, set in 27 acres of lush tropical garden. With its backdrop of volcanic peaks and outlook over the crystal blue waters of the lagoon, the resort has a truly wonderful tropical setting. Soak up the atmosphere of the island as you relax on the stunning beach, or around the new infinity pool.
Accommodation ranges from air conditioned hotel rooms, garden or beach bungalows to over water bungalows. All accommodation rooms and bungalows have been upgraded and refurbished and all are furnished and decorated to the highest standards. The garden bungalows have an extended private terrace with their own plunge pool, beach bungalows have an extended deck area and the overwater bungalows have new pontoons with direct access to the water. All rooms have air-conditioning, ceiling fans, ensuite facilities with separate showers, complimentary toiletries, hairdryer, refrigerator with mini-bar, complimentary tea & coffee facilities, iron & ironing board, in room safe, IDD telephone, Cable/Satellite TV, ADSL high speed Internet access and opening doors onto a private terrace or deck with sun furniture.
There are 2 Restaurants to choose from at the Intercontinental Moorea. The Fare Nui offers a gourmet menu and extensive wine list, with views over the new pool and the lagoon beyond. The Fare Hana has a more informal feel with lighter fare, either inside or outside on the new extended pool terrace. The pool terrace is also where you will find the Motu-Iti Bar, where you can sample cocktails, and watch Polynesian shows and live music, or just sit and watch the sun go down with drink in hand.
Once a week, there is also a 'Soiree Barbecue' on the beach, with grilled meat and local fish with salads and fresh island fruits. And if you want a romantic day out, you can take a picnic lunch to the deserted motu (small island) nearby.
When they completed a multi-million dollar refurbishment in 2010, they built the fantastic 360sqm infinity pool at the top of the main beach with a smaller 75sqm pool above the main one. Both new pools have specatacular views of the lagoon over the beach and have been popular with guests staying. The original pool area has been landscaped into a spacious terrace and part of this is an outdoor extension to the refurbished Fare Hana Restaurant.
For the more energetic, you can make use of the fitness centre and the Kids Club or choose from a range of activities and land and water sports, such as tennis, 4X4 excursions, diving, snorkeling and kayaking. The hotel is the Tahitian home of the Pacific Dolphin research foundation and the Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Centre, where you can experience the wonder of swimming with the dolphins, or see wild turtles close up - an experience not to be missed and one never forgotten.
And when you need to relax, the brand new (open Dec 19) Deep Nature Spa by Algotherm, has massages and treatments to soothe and refresh. Whilst the new spa is being created, in-room services are available but the main spa will be closed until the grand opening next year.

Airport Transfers
Transfers from Tahiti are either by scheduled flights or ferry boat.
Ferryboat from Papeete docks- take approximately 30 minutes, the flights from Papeete airport will take 5 minutes, followed by a bus ride to the hotel of between 15-20 minutes

Although there are frequent
international flights into Tahiti, French Polynesia's international
gateway to the World, there are limited airports of embarkation to
choose from, with currently only Paris, Los Angeles, Auckland and
Tokyo offering single plane air service to Tahiti.
The international airline for French Polynesia. is Air Tahiti
Nui, who operate daily flights from Paris and Los
Angeles to Tahiti, and on some days there are additional fights
to/from Los Angeles. In addition, they operate two weekly flights
to/from Auckland and they serve Tokyo twice a week. Their services
to New York and Sydney have been suspended, at this
time.
Air France
currently offer a service from Paris, three times a week via Los
Angeles
Air New Zealand
operates daily flights via LA to Papeete, and 5 days a week from/to
Auckland with it's own aircraft. It also operates a codeshare
arrangements with Air Tahiti Nui providing seats on their fights
from Tahiti to Auckland and Los Angeles.
United Airlines operate 3 times
a week from San Francisco to Papeete, on Tuesday, Thursday and
Sunday, which will connect to their daily flight from
Heathrow.
Air Calin
operate a weekly flight between Noumea, in New Caledonia, and
Tahiti.
Hawaiian
Airlines provide a weekly service between Honolulu and
Tahiti, currently operating on a Saturday/Sunday schedule.
LANChile
operate a flight once a week from Santiago to Tahiti via
Easter Island, providing the availability to do a great side trip
from Tahiti to Easter island.
Air Tahiti is
French Polynesia's domestic airline, which operates an extensive
domestic flight network covering all the country's main islands,
with at least a daily service. With the main Society islands
receiving a number of flights a day, since Air Moorea stopped
operations between Tahiti and Moorea, the flight connections now to
Moorea have become limited, most connections between the two are
now done by ferry boat.
The less populated and outer islands have a restricted service, so
sometimes a night stop in Tahiti may be required when connecting to
these islands.
Air Tahiti
provide the only air service between Tahiti and the Cook islands,
which they currently do once a week on a Thursday, an extra high
season flight is operated between June and August
There are a number of aircraft and helicopters available for private charters, but they all tend to be based in Tahiti so arranging charters between the outer islands can be expensive as the aircraft will originate and terminate in Tahiti. Tahiti Nui Helicopters are one such company that operate resort transfers (where helipad available), inter-island flights and sightseeing trips. Contact us for further info.

Pricing Policy
Prices are based on the hotels " Early Booking " rate including Breakfast which requires the booking to be confirmed at least 90 days prior to arrival, bookings made within 90 days of arrival will have a supplement which is available on request. If you stay at an Intercontinental Resort/hotel on another Island in French Polynesia then a discount will apply to these prices, and Breakfast may not apply, details available on request.
Also at certain times of the year the resort offers a FREE nights accommodation, details available on request
The prices shown are on a per room, per night basis, for single or twin occupancy.
Meal plan prices available on request.
There is a daily Communal Tax in Moorea, which is paid directly to the hotel upon the guests' departure. This is currently 200 XPF (Pacific Francs - roughly EUR1.70/£1.60) which is per person, per day.
