Taveuni is Fiji's third largest island, lying to the northeast of Nadi, and just a short sixty-minute flight away. The island is home to the official location of the international dateline, the 180-degree longitude goes through the island, the fixed location is in the middle of a field! This makes Taveuni exactly halfway around the world.

The island is 37 miles long but only 7 miles wide and is a high, lush tropical one with rain forests and many waterfalls, offering some very lovely hikes and walks for the adventurous. The main island has quite a rocky coastline and does not have many long beaches.  It would not be an immediate choice for those looking for a laze-on-a-beach holiday, barr a few small resorts actual set upon the few beaches there are. But Taveuni does have a number of outer islands that offer some beautiful beaches and beach resorts, including Qamea Beach resort, Matangi Island Resort and Laucala Resort.

Taveuni offers the visitor a very quiet relaxing experience and one that should not be missed as part of your Fijian experience.
