The Maravu Plantation is located on the northern island of Taveuni, a 60 minute flight from Nadi. This is the island through which the 180 degree meridian line passes, so when you stay here you truly are on the other side of the world! Plus the island's lifestyle is so far removed from the day to day living we experience in the UK that you would also believe you are in another world.
The Maravu Plantation is owned and managed by Angela and Jochen Kiess, who visited Taveuni for a holiday and stayed for a lifestyle! As a result of their love and passion for the island, the resort offers a unique and beautifully tranquil environment from which to explore and enjoy this unspoilt Fijian Island, with its huge rainforest, spectacular waterfalls (which you can swim under), high mountains and volcano lakes.
The resort is set in a 56 acre coconut grove that nestles on a hillside at the northwestern tip of the island. The property is not on the ocean, but it does have its own private beach situated just across the coastal road. The plantation extends right to the peak of the island where you are afforded some spectacular views of the island and the adjoining ocean. The hill top is also the location for one of the most breathtaking wedding ceremony venues to be found anywhere in Fiji, thankfully you do not have to be getting married to take advantage of this location, as it's available to all guests.
The resort has fourteen bures, in four categories; Planters bure, Deluxe bure, Honeymoon bure and Treehouse Bure, plus the Honeymoon Deluxe suites and Oceanview Spa Villa. They are spread widely throughout the lower elevations of the resort, and are positioned facing west to offer wonderful sunset view from their private verandas. The bures are constructed mainly of local woods to a traditional colonial design with palm thatched roofs. They all come with private bathrooms, mini bars, tea/coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board and a radio/CD player. The deluxe bures and honeymoon accommodation are all air-conditioned. In addition the honeymoon suites offer an outdoor shower and large Jacuzzi pool.
The resort's Wananavu restaurant and bar offer the best cuisine to be found on the island. Offering a wide selection of both Fijian and International dishes and the wine list is one of the most comprehensive to be found in Fiji, so you can rest assured that your dining experience will be a memorable one.
For the active part of your visit there are plenty of activies to chose from, the resort has a freshwater swimming pool, which is set in its own tropical gardens, plus they offer horse trekking, mountain biking, kayaking, Island tours and Scuba diving. All are included in the price.
We would not suggest the Maravu Plantation if you are looking for a laid back beach resort. But if you are looking for a truly beautiful quite relaxing scenic retreat, away from the hustle and bustle of the daily grind, then look no further, for the Maravu Plantation is the place for you.
Maravu Plantation Update
Sadly, Maravu Plantation was severly damaged by a cyclone in March 2010, and as part of the repairs, the whole Resort has been refurbished and redecorated. Several of the mature trees and plants were lost, and this has opened up the feel of the Resort. The owners and staff will be re-planting them, but it will obviously take time to grow, to give the Resort that 'middle of the rainforest' feel again.

Child Policy
Children of all ages are welcome.
Two children up to the age of 12 sharing a bure with parents are free of charge. Children under the age of 12yrs cannot stay in the treehouse accommodation.
Airport Transfers
Round trip standard airport transfers from Taveuni Airport to the resort are included in the room price.

Fiji has one of the best air service connections of any of the islands in the Pacific.
Air Pacific, Fiji's national carrier, provides a daily service to Sydney and Auckland and up to six times a week to Los Angeles, with frequent flights to Brisbane and Melbourne. Air Pacific also provides regular services to the neighbouring island nations of Tonga, Samoa, Vanuatu, Kiribati and the Solomon Islands. Further afield it operates twice weekly flights to Hong Kong.
Korean Air operate three flights a week between Seoul and Nadi. On the southbound flights from Seoul a direct connection can be made off Korean Air's daily London-Seoul flight. However, on the return flight, a night stop will be required in Seoul, as the flight timings do not permit a same day connection.
Air New Zealand operates daily to/from Auckland with connections to its double-daily flights to London, either via Los Angeles or Hong Kong. Air New Zealand also operates a codeshare arrangement with Air Pacific providing seats on their non-stop Nadi-Los Angeles flights.
Virgin Blue operate a regular service from/to Sydney, with connections to many other Australian cities.
Air Cali operate twice a week between Noumea and Nadi. Currently Air New Guinea operate a twice a week service from and to Port Moresby via Honiara.
Pacific Sun, Air Pacific's domestic airline subsidiary, operates an extensive domestic flight network covering all the countries main islands, with at least a daily service. The main northern islands receive at least two flights a day and some times more, the less populated islands get a restricted service, so sometimes a night stop in Nadi or Suva may be required when connecting between some of the less popular islands.
A number of the outer Island Resorts operate their own dedicated daily flights, to transfer their clients from Nadi to the resort and back, using either fixed wing commuter aircraft, seaplanes or helicopters. Further details of these will be given at the time we provide our quotation.

The Treehouse Bure is situated at treetop level, amongst an ancient Rain Tree.
