The Lodge, built of natural stone and native timber, blends into the scenery among the trees along the ridge of a cliff that rises from the lake shore, offering beautiful views of the lake, the mountains and the surrounding countrysde.

The Lodge offers 1 Lodge room, 2 Suites and 8 Deluxe Suites, each with highspeed Wi-Fi internet access, air conditioning and heating, large panoramic windows affording stunning views, and private terraces overlooking the lake and the surrounding mountains.

The 8 Deluxe Suites, 2 in the main house and 6 in detached buildings along the shoreline, all face across the lake, with large panoramic windows affording stunning views.  The feature a separate bedroom with king bed, dressing room, ensuite bathroom with separate bath and shower and double vanities, a separate living room with sofas, TV, work desk and chair, mini-bar, flat-screen TV, DVD player, CD player with iPod connector, iron and ironing board, in-room safe, open fireplace, large picture windows and opening doors to a private covered deck with amazing views.

The Main Lodge offers a spacious lounge and comfortable living areas to relax in, and the dining room showcases local seasonal produce and the finest local and international wines.  The dinner menu, which is included in the daily room rate,  changes daily and offers a varied selection of modern European-influenced cuisine, whilst lunch (and picnic hampers if required) offers sandwiches, salads and desserts.  Room service is available on request.  Formal pre-dinner drinks and canapes are served nightly in the lounge, and gentleman must wear jackets during cocktails and dinner.

The Matakauri Lodge offers an outdoor infinity swimming pool, jacuzzi spa, a gym with resistance equipment and free weights, a guest library, the Remarkables Patio and courtyard, and a luxury Spa facility, with 2 treatment rooms and a selection of massages and treatments available.
