Blue Ridge opened in 2004 with just the one guest room, the Kea Room, within the main home. A purpose built guest lodge containing 3 stylishly appointed self contained studio apartments was added in 2005 and they also enlarged and refurbished the Kea Room in the main house, making it into a comfortable and spacious suite of 2 rooms plus an adjoining en suite bathroom.
The 3 beautifully appointed Guest Studios are named after New Zealand native birds found in the Fiordland area and have comfortable king sized beds, modern tiled ensuite bathrooms with powerful showers, underfloor heating, towel warmers, hairdryers, fluffy white pure cotton towels and bathrobes, and complimentary organic lavender toiletries, a well equipped kitchenette with fridge, microwave, George Foreman grills, and tea and coffee making facilities, a lounge and dining area with dining table and chairs, sofa, Satelite TV, DVD player iron and ironing board and a pleasant deck with garden furniture.
The Kea Room is in a separate wing of the main house, and also has its own private entrance. It features a separate bedroom with a Queen bed with a feather and down mattress topper and luxury linens, a separate living and dining area with armchairs, coffee table, TV, DVD player, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and space for a rollaway bed if required for a third person.
Breakfast is served in the main house dining room, which has lovely views of the landscaped gardens and the nearby Murchison Mountains, and offers continental plus cooked breakfast, with freshly baked home-made muffins or croissants, seasonal fresh fruit platter, homemade yoghurt, fresh juice and a selection of cereals and breads as well as freshly brewed coffee or tea. You will also find home-baked treats in your room on arrival, too.
The Blue Ridge B & B offers complimentary Wi-Fi internet access throughout the property, a DVD and book library for loan, off street guest parking, a complimentary laundry service, and the surrounding gardens have been landscaped to a beautiful English-style garden with lots of perennials and mature trees, as well as over 60 roses. There is also a spa tub to relax in at the end of a tiring day!
If you have tours or excursions booked with local providers, most of them will pick you up from the door, and do they offer a complimentary booking service if you don't have anything pre-booked. The owners are very knowledgable about the area and the activities and tours available, and are more than happy to share this with all of their guests.
The Blue Ridge Bed and Breakfast is situated at the end of a peaceful cul-de-sac away from traffic noise but conveniently located just a few minutes stroll to the Town Centre with its many restaurants, shops and the beautiful Lake Te Anau.
