Huka Lodge is looked upon by many as the premium Lodge in New Zealand, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip have stayed there twice. However, in a country where there are so many wonderful lodges it is very difficult to say which is the best, suffice to say it is one of the very best. Built just above the Huka Falls on the banks of the Waikato River, which flows out of Lake Taupo, the lodge's location is truly spectacular.
The main Lodge is set on the top of a rise, which provide sweeping views across the garden and the river towards the falls. The accommodation is offered in single storey wooden chalets, which are built facing the river. The rooms have been beautifully appointed and are without doubt some of the finest and most luxurious you will find anywhere in the world, the bathrooms are truly magnificent. The main Lodge has an understated elegance with rich warm wooden floors covered with woven wool carpets especially designed to complement the antique country furniture. So if you want to really spoil yourself then a stay a Huka Lodge is a must.
