The brand new Nautilus Resort, which opened its doors to guests in October 2014, is a luxurious 4 1/2 star eco-friendly resort, with just 17 suites and private villas, set on the beachfront of the beautiful Muri Beach, and only a short 20 minute drive from the airport.
There are 5 bungalow categories; Garden Are' (bungalow), Premium Beachfront, 2-Bed Garden, 2-Bed Premium Beachfront and 3-Bed Premium Beachfront.
The Garden Are' set amongst the tropical planted gardens and fruit trees, just a short stroll to the beach and offer spacious accommodation with a traditional Polynesian-inspired, but contemporary styled decor and funishings. They provide a Californian King size bed with insect nets, ensuite bathroom with separate stone tub, walk-in rain shower, double vanities, hairdryer, bathrobes and complimentary toiletries, a private courtyard garden with outdoor stone shower, air conditioning, 64" Smart TV and entertainment system with in-house movies, complimentary Wi-Fi access (500MB restrictions), IDD telephone, mini-kitchenette with mini-fridge, sink, kettle, toaster microwave, and pod coffee machine, sitting area with single sofa-bed, and bi-folding doors that open up completely giving easy access to an enclosed private sun deck with table and chairs, sun loungers and a private salt water plunge pool. Also, to help reduce the waste of plastic water bottles, each Are' has filtered and UV treated water on tap.
The Premium Beachfront Are' are also the same as the Garden Are' but are in a better location on the beach, overlooking the white sand and the sea beyond..
The 2-bed Garden Are' and the 2-Bed Premium Beachfront Are' are both the same design, with the same amenties as the other bungalows, with only a different location in the resort. They additionallly offer 1 Californian King bed (or split into 2 king singles) in the main bedroom and 2 large singles in the 2nd bedroom, plus each bedroom has its own ensuite luxury bathroom. The separate living and dining area is spacious and airy and there is a full kitchen, a larger sun deck and plunge pool and a private courtyard garden.
The 3-Bed Premium Beachfront Are' combines the 2-Bed and a standard Premium Beachfront Are' together, ideal for larger families or groups of friends to stay together.
A tropical breakfast is complimentary each day of your stay, and the Polynesian-style beachfront restaurant, with its internationally trained chef, serves a fresh selection of light bites for lunch, such as salads, burgers, grilled fish, and pastas, and a varied evening menu of island and western cuisine, including fresh fish, local and imported meats, with locally grown vegetables and fruits for your evening dinner. You can dine in the main dining room or outside on patio, but both have stunning views of the Muri Beach Lagoon. The bar and lounge serves a full range of beers, wines, spirits and cocktails and overlooks the beach with a 180 degree views as well.
The Nautilus Resort is in a great location for swimming in the lagoon, but they also have a free-form infinity-edge pool overlooking the beach. The Polynesian Spa offers a range of body and beauty treatments, and many treatments can be done on the beach if you wish.
The Muri Lagoon itself, offers a huge range of watersports for you to fill your days, such as snorkelling, diving, sailing and fishing, and the local town of Avarua has Saturday markets, restaurants, bars and shops to explore, just a short taxi ride away. You can take in a Polynesian Dance show or the dazzling Fire Dance, or maybe take a guided hike through the forest walks, hire a bike and explore the winding roads, or hire a scooter and go a bit further around the island.

Child Policy
Children of all ages are welcome and well catered for. 1 Child under 3 years stay free when staying with accompanying parenst and using existing bedding. Older child or 1 extra child in extra bed is charged NZD$105 per night. Extra beds must be requested in advance.
Airport Transfers
Roundtrip airport transfers are arranged by the Resort andare charged at NZD$22 per person each way, and $11 per child each way . The Resort is approximately 15 minutes from the airport.

Currently, there are very limited International flight connections to and from the Cook islands. All international flights operate into Rarotonga and there are domestic connection flights into Aitutaki, Atiu and Mangaia.
The main international carrier is Air New Zealand, with direct air service provided six days a week from and to Auckland (currently there is no flight on a Friday), and once a week to and from Los Angeles, currently departing Rarotonga on a Friday arriving LA on the Saturday. The return flight leaves LA on Saturday and arrives Rarotonga on Sunday morning. They operate on a new B777-200ER aircraft, with 26 Business, 40 Premium Economy and 246 Economy seats. The Premium Economy seats are the first to be offered on this route.
There is also a year round once a week flight with Air New Zealand between Rarotonga and Sydney, departing Rarotonga on Thursday arriving Sydney on Friday and departing Sydney on Friday arriving in Rarotonga on Friday, operating on a B767-300 aircraft, with 24 Business and 206 Economy seats.
Virgin Australia operate 3 days a week from Auckland to Rarotonga, using a 737 aircraft, departing Auckland on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, arriving in Rarotonga the previous day (as you cross the International dateline), and returning flights Tuesday, Thursday and Friday arriving two days later (cross the International dateline again in the other direction adding a day, plus arriving after midnight into the next day) (schedule as of 15/10/15, subject to change without notice).
Also, for the winter months, (June-October 2016), they will be operating a direct flight Christchurch, on New Zealand's South Island, to Rarotonga. Departing on Saturday and arriving in Rarotonga on Friday (cross the date line), and returning the same day, Friday to arrive back in Christchurch on Sunday (date line and midnight time crossing), this will save visitors having to travel up to Auckland to get to the Cook Islands.
Jetstar,
a new airline starting in New Zealand, started a new flight
schedule from Auckland to Rarotonga in March 2016. At
present, they are planning to operate from and to Auckland on
Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday, with the return flight being the same
days, due to arriving and departing after midnight, and will arrive
back in Auckland the following days, due to crossing the
international dateline.
Air Tahiti
operate up to twice weekly flights from Papeete, Tahiti to
Rarotonga, currently on a Saturday and Thursday. However,
on most weeks they only operate the
Thursday flight!
All
domestic flights within the Cook islands are operate by Air Rarotonga. Their main route
is Rarotonga to Aitutaki, on which they operate up to five daily
services, except Sunday, when only one is operated (up till the end
of 2009 no flights were permitted to operate domestically on a
Sunday).
They also provide frequent services to the other main islands in
the Southern group. However, air access to the Northern group
is currently very restricted, to the point where it is almost
impossible for tourists to book flights, due to the limited seats
that are offered. Quite a lot of the time, the
seats are reserved for Government officials and the local residence
of the Northern islands.
