The Moana Sands group of 3 separate properties are set on Rarotonga's beautiful beaches, with 1 on the famous Muri Beach, and 2 on the south coast's Titikaveka and Vaimaanga Beaches, and offer a range of modern, good value accommodation to suit the majority of guests, all with easy access into the shallow turquoise water right in front of you.

 

The Moana Sands Beachfront Hotel is a small, comfortable hotel that offers 12 Beachfront Studios, 6 on the ground floor and 6 on the first floor, plus 5 Deluxe Studios on the top floor.  All the Studios have large, private furnished balconies or patios the face directly over the beach and the beautiful lagoon just a few metres away.   The Beachfront Studios offer the options of 1 King bed, 2 Twin beds, 1 King plus 1 Single bed or 3 Single beds, plus ensuite bathrooms with walk-in shower (no tub) and complimentary toiletries, air conditioning, flat-screen TV with Sky satelite channels, kitchenette with microwave, refrigerator and a dining table and chairs.  The Deluxe Studios, on the top floor, are more spacious and have stunning views from their balcony.  They offer 1 King bed or 2 singles, an in-room safe, plus all the same amenities as the Beachfront Studios, including the kitchenette facilities.

 

The Moana Sands Beachfront Villas & Apartments are located on nearby Vaimaanga Beach, another beautiful stretch of white sand and turquoise water, just 3 miles or a 5 minute drive from the hotel.  There are 6 brand new, purpose-built Beachfront Villas, 3 on the ground floor and 3 on the first floor, each with a furnished patio or balcony. They offer a modern and contemporary designed interior, with light neutral tones and bright accent accessories, 2 separate bedrooms with the options of 2 King beds, 1 King and 2 Singles or 4 Singles, 2 ensuite bathrooms, a spacious lounge and dining room and  a modern fully stocked kitchen bar with microwave, tea and coffee making facilities, 2-ring hob, fridge and sink. A complimentary breakfast starter pack is provided when you check in and there is a modern mini-supermarket just across the road for essential supplies and food during your stay.  Some rooms are interconnecting, so are ideal for families or groups of friends. The Apartments are in a building just next door to the villas.  There are 2 Studio apartments on the ground floor, with a kitchenette, split king bed, sitting area and patio, and two, 2-bed self-catering Beachside Apartments on the first floor, offering 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and a very spacious, open-plan lounge, dining room and kitchen, opening out to a large private balcony with views of the beach and the turquoise lagoon.  It offers the same standard amenities as the studios, just with a lot more space!  The property have just finished a brand new 8m saltwater pool for guests, just to the side of the villa block, overlooking the ocean.

 

The brand new (2018) Moana Sands Lagoon Resort is set on the Muri Beach and has been designed to be as self-sufficient as possible, with rainwater catchment tanks, advanced waste water systems and solar panels.  They have 22 Deluxe Studio rooms and 2 Lagoon Suites in a 2-storey block, all overlooking the pool terrace and the beach.  Each Studio offers 1 King or 2 Single beds, ensuite bathroom with glass walk-in shower and designer vanity, wetbar area with fridge, sink and tea and coffee making facilities, spacious sitting area and double sliding doors opening to a private furnished balcony or patio. Ground floor Studios have direct access to the pool terrace.  This is an adults only property.

 

At the Moana Sands Beachfront Hotel, dining is offered at the Moana Restaurant & Bar, for the complimentary continental breakfast, an evening dinner, even a Sunday buffet barbecue on the beach, if you wish. The evening menu offers a varied choice from fresh local fish, local and imported meats and delicious desserts.  They also have a well-stocked bar of beers, wines, spirits as well as a selection of cocktails.   At the Moana Beachfront Villas, there is a popular coffee shop, Coco Latte, which serves all day breakfasts, freshly made sandwiches, salads, light bites, homemade cakes and pastries, fresh fruit smoothies and milkshakes, as well as their own brand of home-roasted coffee.  At the Lagoon Resort, the Laguna Restaurant & Bar faces the pool and the beach and offers fresh local and international dishes, light snack and drinks all day.

 

If you don't want to eat in your studio, villa or the on-site restaurants, there are several restaurants and bars nearby you can try, or each property has its own barbecue area available for guests to use.

 

The beach is definitely the focal point at these 3 separate properties.  They all provide complimentary use of kayaks and snorkelling equipment, and at all locations, the water is warm and shallow, making it great for swimming and snorkelling straight off the beach.   The staff can also book any of the many tours and excursions available, such as bike rentals, 4WD mountain safari, island tours, boat cruises, dive excursions, fishing charters, horseriding, scenic flights and countless more.
