The Crown Beach is one of the island's newer properties, and ranks in the islands' top five resorts.
Built on five acres of lush tropical gardens and cobblestone paths, between the island's coastal road and a beautiful white sand beach, the Crown Beach offers a superb environment from which to enjoy all the wonders of the Cook islands, and only 10 minutes from Rarotonga Airport, and 15 minutes from the main town of Avarua. Being on the western shore, the Resort is pretty well sheltered from the easterly tradewinds, and gives amazing sunset views from almost everywhere within the Resort, but especially from the beach area.
The resort offers four types of accommodation in their 22 villas - 1- and 2-Bedroom Garden Villas, which are situated amongst the tropical landscaped gardens a short stroll from the beach, Courtyard Pool Suites, the recently refubished 1-Bedroom Beachfront Villas and the 2-Bedroom Beachfront Pool Villas, right on the beach edge. All the villas are non-smoking.
The 1-Bedroom Garden Villas are well appointed with cool, tiled floor, neutral, earth tone decor providing a light and airy feel, and rich, recycled mahogany timber for much of their bespoke furniture. They offer a separate bedroom with super King size bed, ensuite bathroom with double vanities, complimentary toiletries, separate bath tub and walk-in shower, air conditioning, ceiling fans, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, dining table and chairs, living area with sofas/single daybed and easy chair, TV, DVD player, CD player, IDD telephone, in-room safe, daily maid service and private outdoor patio or courtyard with garden furniture.
The 2-Bedroom Garden Villa offer almost the same amenities as the 1-Bed, but additionally has the second bedroom with king bed, larger bathroom with double vanities and shower, laundry facilities, and large furnished deck overlooking the Resort pool.
The Courtyard Pool Suites are pretty, self-contained bungalows, inside a private, walled courtyard garden, with your own furnished sun terrace and private plunge pool. They don't have separate bedroom and living areas, but are more open plan, with a King bed, ensuite bathroom with free-standing slipper bath, designer cut and polished stone sinks, and romantic double monsoon rainfall shower, living area with sofa and chairs, coffee table, TV and entertainment centre, and double sliding doors opening onto the terrace with the pool and outdoor dining gazebo. These Suites are ideal for those wanting privacy and romantic seclusion, but still being close to everything else in the Resort.
The Beachfront Villas are set on the beautiful sandy beach with uninterrupted views of the lagoon. They are airy and spacious and offer similar amenities as the Garden Villas, but offer a larger outside deck area with dining table and sun loungers.
The 2-Bedroom Beachfront Pool Villas offer similar amenities to the 2-Bed Garden Villas, but additionally offer a spacious lounge and dining area, and a larger deck and outside space with a private pool, dining area and outdoor lounge area, all overlooking the beach and the turquoise lagoon beyond.
Flambe' is the brand new restaurant that replaced the famous Windjammer. The new restaurant, located at the main entrance, has an airy inside/outside dining area, and has an eclectic menu, serving local produce and freshly caught fish, alongside the more unusual ostrich or venison, and some signature desserts that might have you skipping a starter to enjoy. There is live music every night, (closed Sunday/Monday) and Friday and Saturday night, a fire dance spectacular. The Oceans Restaurant & Bar is located right on the beachfront, and offers relaxed in/outside dining, featuring fresh, local seafood, choice meats in an international/Pacific Rim inspired menu. Oceans also offers an Island Night with Polynesian buffet and traditional entertainment. Whilst Windjammer is closed, Oceans Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner with an enhanced menu. For unique, romantic dining, you can reserve one of the two beach gazebos with your own private waiter, and enjoy a 3 course gourmet dinner with sparkling wine, on white linen, polished silverware, glassware and flowers, all by tiki torch, candlelight and the last rays of the setting sun.
The town of Avarua is only 15 minutes away, and offers a large range of shops, bars and restaurants to explore and experience.
The resort facilities include a waterfall swimming pool that has recently been fully refurbished, and set in the gardens surrounded by the villas, and the Cabana Beach Bar located between the pool and the beach, which provides a great location from which to enjoy the spectacular sunsets. The lagoon is warm, shallow and sheltered and is the perfect place to swim and snorkel, with complimentary snorkelling equipment. There is a day spa and beauty clinic, an onsite dive center for scuba diving, bike rentals, complimentary kayaks, cultural and craft activities, a guest laundry, business centre with fax/copying facilities, newly refurbished fitness centre, room service, and a concierge desk that can organise and book a selection of tours and excursions for you. Wi-Fi is available for a fee.
The Crown Beach has one of the best equipped conference spaces on the island, and also, one of the most beautiful beaches and locations, ideal for romantic weddings and vow renewals, or wonderful honeymoons.
The Crown Beach is a very special resort affording a relaxing experience with style, but is not stuffy, and is one of the Cook Island's special experiences.
The Crown Beach Resort participates in the 'Dine Around the Island' special offer, with 5, 6 and 7 night packages. Please contact us for further information and prices

Currently, there are very limited International flight connections to and from the Cook islands. All international flights operate into Rarotonga and there are domestic connection flights into Aitutaki, Atiu and Mangaia.
The main international carrier is Air New Zealand, with direct air service provided six days a week from and to Auckland (currently there is no flight on a Friday), and once a week to and from Los Angeles, currently departing Rarotonga on a Friday arriving LA on the Saturday. The return flight leaves LA on Saturday and arrives Rarotonga on Sunday morning. They operate on a new B777-200ER aircraft, with 26 Business, 40 Premium Economy and 246 Economy seats. The Premium Economy seats are the first to be offered on this route.
There is also a year round once a week flight with Air New Zealand between Rarotonga and Sydney, departing Rarotonga on Thursday arriving Sydney on Friday and departing Sydney on Friday arriving in Rarotonga on Friday, operating on a B767-300 aircraft, with 24 Business and 206 Economy seats.
Virgin Australia operate 3 days a week from Auckland to Rarotonga, using a 737 aircraft, departing Auckland on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, arriving in Rarotonga the previous day (as you cross the International dateline), and returning flights Tuesday, Thursday and Friday arriving two days later (cross the International dateline again in the other direction adding a day, plus arriving after midnight into the next day) (schedule as of 15/10/15, subject to change without notice).
Also, for the winter months, (June-October 2016), they will be operating a direct flight Christchurch, on New Zealand's South Island, to Rarotonga. Departing on Saturday and arriving in Rarotonga on Friday (cross the date line), and returning the same day, Friday to arrive back in Christchurch on Sunday (date line and midnight time crossing), this will save visitors having to travel up to Auckland to get to the Cook Islands.
Jetstar,
a new airline starting in New Zealand, started a new flight
schedule from Auckland to Rarotonga in March 2016. At
present, they are planning to operate from and to Auckland on
Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday, with the return flight being the same
days, due to arriving and departing after midnight, and will arrive
back in Auckland the following days, due to crossing the
international dateline.
Air Tahiti
operate up to twice weekly flights from Papeete, Tahiti to
Rarotonga, currently on a Saturday and Thursday. However,
on most weeks they only operate the
Thursday flight!
All
domestic flights within the Cook islands are operate by Air Rarotonga. Their main route
is Rarotonga to Aitutaki, on which they operate up to five daily
services, except Sunday, when only one is operated (up till the end
of 2009 no flights were permitted to operate domestically on a
Sunday).
They also provide frequent services to the other main islands in
the Southern group. However, air access to the Northern group
is currently very restricted, to the point where it is almost
impossible for tourists to book flights, due to the limited seats
that are offered. Quite a lot of the time, the
seats are reserved for Government officials and the local residence
of the Northern islands.
Airline Seat Maps
For most airlines, we can pre-reserve seats for you once your flight booking is confirmed, and will do so as a matter of course. If you would like to have a look at a seat plan for your aircraft, you can check the airlines' own website, or one of the best independent websites for this information is SeatGuru.com, which is part of the Tripadvisor group.
