The Naumi Hotel Auckland Airport, formally the Hotel Grande and Grand Chancellor, is a short 5 minute shuttle ride from the terminals, and only 9 miles (15km) from Auckland city centre.

The hotel was bought in March 2015 by Singaporean hotel group, Naumi Hospitality, and shortly after, was closed to enable a full refurbishment of the entire property.  They had planned to re-open as the Hotel Grande, but it appears they had a change of plan and change the whole hotel from standard airport hotel to funky, boutique art hotel, offering a very different experience for guest staying overnight at the airport.

There are 5 unique Guest Room categories, and in their unique style, they are not the standard room description. They offer the Habitat, Oasis, Blush, Dottie and the Ziggy.  All rooms are hip and trendy, with contemporary artwork, modern, designer furnishings and up-to-the-minute technology, such as 50" Panasonic Smart TV with Netflix included, Dyson hairdryers or GHD straighteners (some rooms).  There are some rooms that have not yet been refurbished and are listed as Economy Queen and Economy Twin rooms.  These are standard hotel rooms that are a little tired, but clean and comfortable for a 1 night stay for those on a tighter budget.

The Habitat Guest rooms 2 Queen beds, contemporary ensuite bathroom with wet-room shower, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities with coffee pod machine, small fridge with complimentary mini-bar with water and snacks, 50" smart TV with Netflix,  Wi-Fi (fee), air conditioning and doors opening to a private balcony or patio overlooking the gardens or the pool.  The Oasis Guest Rooms are slightly bigger than Habitat and offer similar amenities but have a super-king bed and a free-standing bath tub as well as shower in the ensuite bathroom.  The Blush Guest Rooms are similar to Oasis and are decorated in shades of pink and peach and offer luxury touches such as Dyson hairdryers and GHD's in the designer bathroom.  The Dottie Suite is inspired by Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama and includes dots, spots and circles in the decor.  There is a separate bedroom with a super-king bed, ensuite bathroom with free-standing bath and walk-in shower, and direct access to a balcony, plus a separate lounge area  with sofas, chairs and wet bar area with stools, and sliding doors to a separate private balcony.  The spacious Ziggy Suite is a psychedelic den that Austin Powers would feel right at home in.  Zig-zag patterns abound along with modish designer furniture, art and decor.  The master bedroom offers a super-king bed, balcony and large ensuite with free-standing tub, wet-room shower double vanities and sa separate toilet.  The Living room has a seating area, neon bar with stools, dining table out on the balcony and a foosball table, just for fun.

Paksa Bar and Restaurant is open all day 6.00am - 10.00pm, and serves a continental breakfast buffet and a' la carte cooked items (until 10.30am) and lunch and dinner menu offering family favourites and Oriental-Pacific specialities, along with an assorted wine list from New Zealand and worldwide.  Room service is available 24 hrs.  The Paksa Bar is a pleasant spot to enjoy a cocktail, on tap beers or favourite tipple, along side a snack menu for light bites.

The concierge desk can help with any local enquiries or car hire, and the solar-heated pool, located in the garden courtyard, is a perfect place to chill after a long flight.  There is a Fitness room and a business centre, and a complimentary shared airport transfer shuttle to take you to and from the airport, roughly every 30 mins (can change).

The Naumi Hotel Auckland Airport is ideal overnight stopover hotel, but we would not recommend it for longer stays in Auckland.
