The Koa Kea Hotel is a luxury 121 room beachfront boutique hotel, located on the famous Poipu Beach on the south coast of Kauai.
The Koa Kea Hotel is on the site of a previous hotel that had been built before new building regulations were introduced, and was very close to the beach, less than 30 metres from the sand. If the current owners had wanted to build a completely new building, they would to have had to site it much further back from the beach. So they refurbished the original hotel, completely gutting it and renovating it up to its current 4.5 star standard, so although the outside doesn't look as polished as other resorts, the inside is a high class designer-inspired, contemporary haven.
The hotel has 121 guest rooms and suites that are all recently renovated with updated furniture and furnishings, and decorated in natural tones of cream, turquoise, coral, crimson and warm, dark woods, accentuated by crisp, white linens on the double or king size beds.
They offer 7 catagories of room; Garden View, Partial Ocean View, Ocean View, Ocean Front and Deluxe Ocean Front rooms, and Ocean View and Ocean Front Suites.
Each room and suite has an ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower, hairdryer, bathrobes and complimentary L'Occitane toiletries, 1 King or 2 Double beds, work desk and chair, complimentary wired and Wi-Fi internet access, air conditioning, ceiling fans, flat-screen HD TV with cable and on demand channels, iPod docking station, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities including a Nespresso Espresso Machine, in-room safe, iron and ironing board, and sliding doors opening onto a private furnished lanai or patio to enjoy the lovely garden or ocean views and cool sea breezes.
The Suites offer the same amenities as the Guest Rooms, but have a separate bedroom and furnished living room, and 2 balconies. 2 Bedroom Suites are also available.
Guest at the Koa Kea Hotel can enjoy a varied Hawaiian/Asian cuisine at the Red Salt Restaurant, which is open for breakfast, either a la carte or buffet, light lunches and a delicious dinner menu, offering fresh local fish, steaks and vegetables. A fresh Sushi Bar is also available Tuesday to Sunday, the Red Salt lounge is open each evening for snacks, drinks and sunset cocktails, and the Pool bar is open all day for snacks and light bites. But if you don't fancy eating at the resort, you can venture to the nearby Poipu town or to some of the neighbouring resorts and try something different.
In the centre of the hotel complex is a pleasant, if slightly small, fresh water pool surrounded by a sun terrace with a good number of sun loungers, umbrellas and the Pool Bar.
For relaxation, the Spa can offer a selection of body and beauty treatments, and there is a whirlpool jacuzzi to soak any aches away. There is a well eqipped fitness room, a guest laundry, a dry cleaning and laundry service, a small business centre, porters and valet parking.
The Koa Kea is just across the road from the Poipu Shopping Mall, with many shops and restaurants to try, and is just off the main coastal road, so it is easy to explore the rest of of the island and enjoy some of the many activities on offer, from horse riding, hiking, bicycle hire and tennis, to whale watching, scuba diving and jungle ecotours, to name but a few.
The Koa Kea Hotel offers a luxury stay that even some of the big names can't match, and in a great location, right on the beach, easy access to everything and at a reasonable price, too.

Currently, there are no non-stop flights from the UK to the Hawaiian Islands, mainly due to the distance from the UK. The most convenient way of getting there is via a connection at an American or Canadian city, and the following is a list of the Airlines that offer through service to the islands and the routes they operate.
Air Canada: Offer daily connecting flights to Honolulu from Heathrow via Toronto or Vancouver
United Airlines: Offer through services with same day connections from Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Heathrow via Newark, Washington, Los Angeles and San Francisco to Honolulu (Oahu), Maui, Kauai and Kona (Hawaii Big island). They also offer non-stop flights from Chicago and Denver to Honolulu
American Airlines: Offer through services with same day connections from Heathrow via Los Angeles to Maui, Kauai and Kona (Hawaii Big island). They also offer non-stop flights from Dallas to Honolulu and Maui
Alaska Airlines: Offer flights from Anchorage, Seattle and Portland to Honolulu, Maui, Hawaii Big Island and Kauai, which can be used in conjunction with other airlines from the UK
Delta Airlines: Currently, no Delta flights from the UK make a same day connection to their Hawaiian flights, so an overnight stay will be required. However, they can offer a same day connection by using Virgin Atlantic's flight from Heathrow to LA, They offer non-stop flights to Honolulu (Oahu) from Atlanta, Los Angeles, Detroit and Salt Lake City, and to Maui from Los Angeles and Salt Lake City
Hawaiian Airlines: They provide a large range of flights from cities in the American West to Honolulu and Maui. Their flights from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, Las Vegas, San Diego, Seattle, Portland and Phoenix can be used in connection with other carriers flights from the UK. They also provide a weekly service between Honolulu and Tahiti, currently operating on a Saturday/Sunday schedule.
Korean
Air: Offer a very competitive price for
flights to Honolulu from Heathrow via Seoul in South Korea, but it
is the long way around.
Domestic Flights around the
Islands
There are currently two major domestic airlines operating in Hawaii; Island Air, and Hawaiian Airlines. They operate an extensive domestic flight network covering all the islands, with frequent and regular departures operating between 6am and 9 pm
There are a number of aircraft and helicopters available for
private charters throughout Hawaii, so arranging charters between
the main and/or outer islands is very easy. At this time, there are
no seaplanes available for chartering in the Hawaiian chain, which
is a little disappointing for flying boat fans!
Airline Seat Maps
For most airlines, we can pre-reserve seats for you once your flight booking is confirmed, and if no charge is applied, will do so as a matter of course. If there is a charge by the airline for this, we will only do this with your approval. If you would like to have a look at a seat plan for your aircraft, one of the best websites for this information is SeatGuru.com, which is part of the Tripadvisor group. Pricing Policy
Prices are based on a per room, per night, room only basis for single or double occupancy.
Additional meal plan prices available on request.
A daily resort fee of $26 per room per night is charged by the hotel but we would include this charge in any quotes.
