The Vahine Island Resort is built on its own 9 acre island covered with coconut palms and a profusion of hibiscus and bougainvillea flowers. The Motu Tu Vahine (Island of the Woman) is set in the the middle of the beautiful, turquiose Taha'a lagoon with stunning sunset views of the lagoon and the main island.
There are only 9 accommodation bungalows, comprising of 3 Beach Bungalows and 3 Deluxe Beach Suites, dotted along the shoreline amongst the fragrant tropical flowers, and 3 Overwater Bungalows, stretching out into the azure waters of the lagoon. The Beach Bungalows and Beach Suites are situated on the waters edge set on a lush lawn and nestled among the coconut palms and tropical gardens. They offer 1 King bed or 2 twin beds, ensuite bathroom with double vanities, shower and separate toilet complimentary Molton Brown toiletries, ceiling fan, LCD TV with DVD player, telephone, Internet access, mini bar with tea and coffee making facilities, ceiling fan and air conditioning, complimentary Wi-Fi internet access, TV with DVD player, private patio or deck with sun loungers, hammock and beach shower, and adjoining sliding walls that provide an open corner to the room with clear views from your bed to the sea and surrounding islands - a great place for breakfast! The Deluxe Beach Suite offers double the space of the Beach Bungalows, and additionally have a spacious living and sleeping area with 1 King bed, sofa and chairs, and sliding patio doors giving a whole wall of glass to enjoy the view and giving you access to the lage deck with deck chairs, sun loungers and direct access onto the beach and lagoon.
The Overwater Bungalows offer the same facilities as provided in the Beach front bungalows, but they also have a living room area with a removable glass topped table allowing access to the water for feeding the fish, as well as a spacious furnished deck with direct access into the water.
All the resort buildings have been constructed (where possible) in local materials, using local wood, bamboo and thatch, to achieve complete integration and harmony with the islands natural environment.
Dining at Vahine is a real gastronomic experience and is guaranteed not to disappoint the most discerning palate. The open air dining room has wonderful views of the lagoon, and offers a full American-style breakfast enhanced with local specialities, such as their locally produced mango marmalade or vanilla yoghurt, fresh tropical fruits, and freshly baked croissants, breads and cakes. Lunches offer light bites including grilled local seafood, fresh salads and sandwiches, and their gourmet dinner is a mix of local seafood and exotic flavour with a French touch, they offer a varied menu of barbecued lobster, grilled fish and meats, and much more. Because of the quiet, secluded location of Vahine Island, half board is compulsory.
When just relaxing and doing nothing ceases to hold your interest, you can participate in a number of water sport activities, including snorkelling, (complimentary equipment), stand up paddle boards, lagoon kayaks, windsurfing or fishing equipment, learn how to tie a pareo or weave coconut leaves, feed the fish and rays, take a guided tour of the island and gardens, or you can visit the neighbouring islands. You can rent a little motorboat and take a picnic to a motu island, visit the pearly oyster farm or the vanilla plantation on the main island, take a jetski lagoon tour, a catamaran cruise or take a private boat across to Bora Bora for the day.
We believe that the Vahine Island Resort offers a very special vacationing experience, and because it has such limited accommodation, Vahine will only ever be for a very few privileged travellers, - we think you really should consider being among them.

Although there are frequent
international flights into Tahiti, French Polynesia's international
gateway to the World, there are limited airports of embarkation to
choose from, with currently only Paris, Los Angeles, Auckland and
Tokyo offering single plane air service to Tahiti.
The international airline for French Polynesia. is
who operate daily flights from Paris and Los Angeles to Tahiti, and
on some days there are additional fights to/from Los Angeles. In
addition, they operate two weekly flights to/from Auckland and they
serve Tokyo twice a week. Their services to New York and
Sydney have been suspended, at this time.
Air France

Angeles
Air New Zealand
operates daily flights via LA to Papeete, and 5 days a week from/to
Auckland with it's own aircraft. It also operates a codeshare
arrangements with Air Tahiti Nui providing seats on their fights
from Tahiti to Auckland and Los Angeles.
United Airlines operate 3 times
a week from San Francisco to Papeete, on Tuesday, Thursday and
Sunday, which will connect to their daily flight from
Heathrow.

Easter Island, providing the availability to do a great side trip
from Tahiti to Easter island.
Air Tahiti is
French Polynesia's domestic airline, which operates an extensive
domestic flight network covering all the country's main islands,
with at least a daily service. With the main Society islands
receiving a number of flights a day, since Air Moorea stopped
operations between Tahiti and Moorea, the flight connections now to
Moorea have become limited, most connections between the two are
now done by ferry boat.
The less populated and outer islands have a restricted service, so
sometimes a night stop in Tahiti may be required when connecting to
these islands.
Air Tahiti
provide the only air service between Tahiti and the Cook islands,
which they currently do once a week on a Thursday, an extra high
season flight is operated between June and August
There are a number of aircraft and helicopters available for private charters, but they all tend to be based in Tahiti so arranging charters between the outer islands can be expensive as the aircraft will originate and terminate in Tahiti. Tahiti Nui Helicopters are one such company that operate resort transfers (where helipad available), inter-island flights and sightseeing trips. Contact us for further info.
