The Le Taha'a Island Resort and Spa is in our opinion one of the best Resort Hotels to be found anywhere in the Pacific.  Built on 4 acre Motu Tautau, located on the coral reef which surrounds the main island of Taha'a, this resort offers a level of service and style that will make your stay a truly memorable experience.

 

The resort offers 7 categories of accommodation, all of which offer large villas and overwater suites providing some of the most spacious accommodation to be found at any five star resort in French Polynesia, as well as first class facilities.  There are 10 Beach Villas, 2 Royal Beach Villas, 27 Taha'a Overwater Suites, 8 Bora Bora Overwater Suites, 6 Sunset Overwater Suites and 4 Premium Overwater Suites.

 

The 1-Bed Beach Villas and 2-Bed Royal Beach Villas are located amongst the tropical gardens on the edge of the beach and offer spacious accommodation with a separate bedroom with king bed (2 bedrooms/bathrooms in the Royal Villa), and separate living room with single sofa bed, both opening out onto a beachside deck, a large ensuite bathroom with open-air courtyard shower, a private walled garden off the living room (and 2nd bedroom in Royal villa), with plunge pool, dining cabana and sundeck, and direct access to the beach and lagoon.  They provide air conditioning in the bedroom, ceiling fan in the living room, complimentary toiletries, bathrobes and slippers, in-room safe, writing desk and chair, tea and coffee making facilities, Wi-fi internet access (complimentary) and satellite TV with English and French channels.  The Royal Villas additionally provides linen bathrobes, iPod dock, Nespresso coffee machine, DVD player, additional TV's in each room, and a personal beach bag.

 

The 48 Overwater Suites all have the same layout and are located on two pontoons that flow out into the lagoon.  The position on the pontoon determines their category.  They offer amazing views over the lagoon and surrounding islands, and of the sealife below through your glass bottom table set in the floor.  All properties offer a king bed in the main room, with a seating area with single sofabed to the side, ensuite bathroom with separate bath and shower, complimentary toiletries, air conditioning, ceiling fans, mini bar, tea/coffee facilities, hairdryer, bathrobes, slippers, satellite TV and sliding doors opening to your private sundecks with sun loungers, amazing views, and direct access to the water.  A rollaway bed is available to accommodate an extra person for a fee.

 

There are 3 restaurants and 2 bars in the Resort to satisfy your dining needs.  The main restaurant, the stunning Le Vanille Restaurant, is open for breakfast and dinner, and is located amongst the lush tropical gardens. Built at first floor level, up in the treetops, it has treehouse-style seating decks with wonderful views of the Taha'a lagoon, and has just completed (Sep 17) a renovation of the decks and terraces.  Once a week, they offer a Polynesian evening with an International and Polynesian buffet and traditional cultural entertainment.  'La Plage' beach and poolside restaurant offers more casual fare for lunch, and the 'Ohiri' restaurant offers fine gourmet dining in a small, intimate dining room in the heart of the Resort.  There are also barbeques and themed buffets with live entertainment on some nights, when you want to be sociable, or you can take a private motu lunch or dinner, for when you don't!  Room service is available from 7.00am - 9.30pm, and includes breakfast delivered to your Overwater Suite by traditional outrigger canoe, and the sound of the ukelele.  The Manuia Bar is right on the beach and has a swim up bar as well.  They offer a full bar all day and light snacks from 3.00pm.  The Tehutu Bar is next to Le Vanille Restaurant and is a pleasant spot for evening cocktails and after dinner drinks.

 

There are many activities available to the energetic, including complimentary kayaks, outrigger canoes, fitness centre, tennis court, snorkelling gear and swimming pool, plus many other excusions and experiences such as jeep safaris, scuba diving, dives and lessons, lagoon cruises, jet skis, island tours, and sport fishing.  For the romantics, you can have an intimate escape with a private cruise, motu or island picnic or have a romantic private milkyway dinner, just for 2 under the stars.

 

When you want to be really pampered, you can visit the Tavai Spa, which offers massages, body scrubs and many other treatments guaranteed to make you feel very special and totally relaxed.
