The Rapa Nui Hotel, part of the Explora Chile group, is a luxury 5-star resort set in a secluded area, overlooking the natural landscape and beautiful Pacific ocean.  It is located on the south-east coast of the island, approximately 15-20 minutes from Hanga Roa town and the airport, from which there are complimentary return transfers.

The resort was only opened in December 2007 and was designed to have minimal impact on its surroundings.  It sits on over 23 acres of land that was unsuitable for agriculture and had no archaeological significance.  Its foundations are built with island volcanic rock that was gathered and worked by local people.  The flora in and around the resort complex remains untouched giving the impression that the resort 'grew' in place!

The decor throughout the hotel is clean, elegant and modern, and has welcoming indoor and outdoor spaces with many touches of local culture and design.  There is a spacious restaurant, with indoor and outdoor dining areas where your all-inclusive meals are served - a buffet breakfast, lunch and evening meal plus soft and alcoholic beverages are included in our prices.

Set in 2 wings that extend north and south of the main complex, the lodge only has 30 rooms, so it would never seem crowded.  The 26 Varua rooms have 32sqm of space and are decorated in a simple modern design, using pine wood and earth colours, with a small living area, separate ensuite facilities with hydromassage bath and window seats with excellent ocean views.  The 4 Raa Suites are 44sqm and additionally have a large living area and huge curved panoramic windows to really take in the view.    All rooms also have king-size or twin beds, air-conditioning, hairdryer, telephone and safety box.

There is a cooling swimming pool, solar-heated jacuzzi and massage salon a short walk from the main building overlooking the rolling hills and Pacific Ocean.  There is also a guest library, a small boutique and internet access.

Also included at this resort are daily guided tours, with water & snacks, or pinic lunch provided.  Groups would be of no more than 8 people,  with the resorts' own multi-lingual, highly-trained guides and there are many different tours to choose from, that will take into account weather conditions and length or difficulty as appropriate to guest's preference and physical shape.  Tours would take you to all the important historic sites on the island and some can be arranged by bicycle or on horseback if required.

This resort is a little bit of un-pretentious luxury in an amazing and remote island landscape.
