A visit to Easter Island will not fail to amaze you. With its
barren rolling landscape, huge volcanic craters and the hundreds of
enormous stone statues, to see it is to be in awe and wonderment at
the peoples who once lived on this remote Pacific island.
Easter Island, the worlds remotest island, is situated in
the eastern South Pacific Ocean,a five and a half-hour fight east
south east of Tahiti and four hours north, north west of Santiago.
This sixty-four square mile Chilean territorial island, with its
mysterious stone statues, known as Moies, holds more secrets of it
historic past than any other island in the Pacific Ocean.
Easter Island is not a 'tropical' island in respect of palm
trees and white sandy beaches, such as imagined of the South
Pacific. There is not the usual lush greenery or
trees that other islands would have, say in Fiji, Tahiti or the Cook Islands, though there are 1 or 2
white beaches with some palm trees around. Easter Island is
appealing for its history and archaeology, but if you do need some
'tropical' beach time as well, we can recommend an itinerary that
includes Easter Island combined with a different island chain,
to give you the best of both worlds.
Because of its location, and the sights to see, we do not
recommend less than a 3 day/2 night stay. Usually,
the flight schedules make this necessary anyway. Therefore, our
pricing for this islands' properties will be per person
for 2 night stays, unless otherwise stated. Longer durations
are available on request.
Currently, there are no locally based cruise companies offering
cruse itineraries around Easter Island. There are a few major
cruise companies operating the large luxury liners, who
offer itineraries across and around the Pacific that will
visit some of these islands, but they are not frequent or on a
regular basis
