The Breakas Beach Resort is a small, boutique property set in a pandanus and banyan tree grove with lush gardens, which lead right on to a 2km white sandy beach, which edges a shallow, clear blue-watered sheltered cove with views across the coral reef to the open ocean.
The resort offers two types of accommodation; Garden and Beachfront Fare (Bungalows). They offer the guest the same level of comfort and amenities, with the only difference between them being their location. The 46 Garden View Fares are set back from the beach a little way and are surrounded by lush tropical gardens, and the 17 Beachfront Fares are literally right on the beach.
Each fale offers a King bed or 2 single beds (on request) with mosquito nets, ensuite bathroom with outdoor coral-wall shower, hairdryer, a single day bed, ceiling fans, (no air-con), work desk, tea and coffee making facilities, mini fridge and a shaded terrace overlooking the gardens or the beach. The windows have wooden louvres to let the sea breezes in to keep you cool. Wi-Fi is available with a fee but there are no TV's in the rooms, so you can really get to relax, island style, away from 21st century technology.
The Restaurant sits next to the pool and right on the beachfront, giving fantastic sea views with dinner, shoes optional! Executive chef Mario Alfieri serves a varied menu of fresh local seafood, local and imported meat dishes with a Pacific flavour and a good selection of New Zealand, Australian and French wines. The Salt Bar, just on the side of the pool, has a full bar selection of beers, spirits and cocktails to enjoy with your afternoon siesta or sunset views.
The beach leads into the shallow water and the inshore coral reef, that is easy to snorkel over at high tide (can be a bit shallow at low tide) and they do provide snorkelling equipment, or you can bring your own. They also have kayaks, stand up paddle boards and reef shoes available for guests to use. And the infinity pool is there if you don't fancy swimming in the sea. There is traditional entertainment shows during the week, with local musicians and fire dancers, and to relax, the on site Massage Hut offers a range of body and beauty treatments, including body massages, mani/pedi treatments and foot massages.
The main town of Port Vila is only a short taxi or local bus ride away, where you can browse the local shops and markets, and be tempted by the many bars and restaurants on offer there.
The hotel provides it's guests with a Melanesian beachfront environment to retreat to after a day spent enjoying the hustle and bustle of down town Port Villa, or enjoying some of the many land and sea activities their Tour Desk can book for you.
