With a modern style, but still having a tropical feel, the Heritage Park offers a little bit of luxury in paradise.

This new resort property only opened in August 2009, and is newly built with modern convieniences with contemporary architecture, blended with the island's cultural heritage. It is located on the former historical site of the Governor General's residence, in the centre of Honiara, but right on the seashore, and looking out over Iron Bottom Sound, Florida Islands to the north, and Savo Island to the north-west.

The Heritage Park is often visited by Pacific Heads of state, Members of Governments, and even Ban Ki Moon, the secretary General of the United Nations.  The hotel recently had the honour of Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, staying here for 2 nights, on their 2012 South Pacific Tour, representing the Queen as part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.  They stayed in the Presidential Suite, and were kind enough to have many photos taken with the staff of the Hotel, as well.

There are 48 Executive rooms and 27 1-and 2-bedroom apartments, and the Presidential Suites, all with a modern, contemporary decor and views over the ocean or the pool area.

Executive Rooms offer 1 Queen or 2 Twin beds with pillowtop mattresses, air conditioning, flat-screen satelite TV, ensuite bathroom with separate shower and complimentary toiletries, work desk and chair, telephone, flat screen 32" or 42" TV, internet access and has a private patio or balcony with table and chairs, with views of the pool and gardens, or the shoreline and the ocean.

The Executive 1-Bedroom Apartments have a separate bedroom with 1 Queen bed or 2 twin beds with pillowtop mattresses, ensuite bathroom with complimentary toiletries, hairdryer, a separate full kitchen with laundry facilities, ta and coffee making facilities and microwave, air conditioning, telephone, dining and living area with sofa, chairs and table, 32" or 42" flat screen TV, Internet access and a private balcony or patio with table and chairs and views of the pool and gardens or the sea.

The Executive 2-Bedroom Apartment is the same as the 1-Bed but with an extra bedroom.  They are all located on the front of the buildings with sea views.

The Presidential Suite is on the top floor and is a 4 room Suite with 2 ensuite bedrooms, a living and dining room, a study with work desk and chairs (which can be converted into a 3rd bedroom if required), a separate bathroom, a small cloakroom, air conditioning, 42" flat screen TV, telephone, a full kitchen with laundry facilities and 3 large private balconies overlooking pool, gardens and the sea beyond.

There are 2 restaurants, with varied menus.  GG's Restaurant offers elegant, fine dining, serving fresh fish and local vegetables with an Asian-Pacific style cuisine. The Terrace Restaurant and coffee shop offer more casual all day dining on an open terrace overlooking the gardens and pool and serves a selection of burgers, salads, pizzas and sandwiches, as well as more more 'meaty' dishes available for dinner.  There is also Poolside dining each evening, with fresh fish and meat cooked on an open grill, simply served with jacket potatoes, chips and salad, and you can dine under the stars right on the waterfront terrace, between the pool and the sea.  Both the Terrace Restaurant and Pool Side have full bars for your choice of drinks.

The Heritage Park has a lovely outdoor pool with a large sun terrace and is set in 5 acres of private waterfront gardens.  They also have a new fitness gymnasium, with a range of resistance machines, free weights, yoga & Zumba classes and a personal trainer if you need help, a well equiped Business Centre with 2 internet connected computors, fax machine, photocopier, secretarial and courier services (fee)

The Hotel has 4 Conference Rooms which can be combined into 1 large space, with dinner seating for up to 100 guests, ideal for conferences or weddings.

The Heritage Park Hotel is a good quality hotel, probably equivalent to a Western 4-star property, with well-equipped rooms, good dining options and facilties, and is in great location, close to everything in the main town, but right on the seafront.  Being the newest and most modern property in Honiara, The Heritage Park is often very popular, and availablity may be limited at times, so book as early as possible to guarantee your room.
