Shark Encounters Cage Tour

For an excursion with a touch of peril, a cage shark encounter has to be up there! Hawaii Shark Encounters have been operating cage shark dives since 2002, and are experts on where to find these sometimes elusive creatures.  They are also very active to support and further the cause of shark conservation worldwide.

Sailing from Haleiwa Small Boat Harbour on Oahu, the 32' Radon-built Kainani is built to handle rough seas (if needed!) and to carry the largest poly-glass lined shark cage in Hawaii.  Scuba experience is not necessary, as just like an iceberg, the cage is designed to float just on the surface, with most of it below, so masks and snorkels are all you need.

At nearly 3 miles offshore, the water is over 600 ft deep and crystal clear, making visibility quite a long distance.  The sharks almost never fail to visit the boat, but on the very rare occasion that you don't see any sharks, then you will get a full refund! The most frequent visitors are Galapagos and Sandbar sharks, both of which are quite curious about humans, are completely unafraid of the cage and come right in close, with sometimes as many as 30 swimming all around you!  You could be lucky and possibly see Grey Reef Sharks, and maybe the odd Hammerhead!

At any one time there will only be a maximum of 5 people in the cage, so you won't feel crowded, and when its not your turn in the water, the crew are passionate about education, passing on their knowledge and information about shark biology and behaviour, ongoing shark research projects and becoming an ambassador for shark conservation.

Each tour lasts approximately one and a half hours and each guest will get as much time in the water as possible.
