If you ask most people something they associate with Hawaii, the attack on Pearl Harbour in December 1941, would probably rank high on the list. This iconic and historical site is usually a 'must-see' for many visitors.
There are many different tours that include visits to Pearl Harbour, and if you want to make it into a full day trip, we can add on additional attractions, such as North Shore tours, Oahu Island Circle tour, Historic Honolulu City Tour or even a trip to a flea market! The list of extras you could do is endless! But for the purpose of this page, we are listing just the basic Pearl Harbour area tours with no added attractions.
Pearl Harbour itself is spread across 5 historic sites and has many amazing things to see, with many interactive exhibits and original artifacts in the museums and visitors centre.
Probably the most famous is the USS Arizona Memorial, which has an overwater viewing area, straddling the sunken hull of the battleship. The water is so crystal clear, you can see the ship below you, and sometimes even see the droplets of oil that are still seeping up from the wreck even now. Before going out to the viewing area, you get to view a informational film about the attack, in the Visitors Centre, then take the Navy shuttle boat out to the memorial. (This may unavailable in bad weather as the memorial is open air).
The Battleship Missouri Memorial is one of the last remaining WWII battleships and is a living museum, with exhibits from 3 wars and 50 years of her service. Explore and wander around the 'Mighty Mo' from her expansive decks the size of 3 football fields, and massive deck guns, to the Surrender Deck, where the treaty was signed by the Japanese that ended the war in the Pacific.
The USS Bowfin Submarine Museum and Park houses the USS Bowfin sub, which was one of the 288 US Submarines involved in the war in the Pacific. Explore below decks and below the waterline, and imagine just what it must be like to sail into war under the ocean.
The Pacific Aviation Museum is located within former WWII aircraft hangers on Ford Island, out in the Harbour, and has several actual planes used in the war, as well as many other informative and interactive exhibits.
The USS Oklahoma Memorial honors the 429 crew who lost their live in 1941. The 35,00-ton battleship capsized only 12 minutes after being hit by 9 torpedoes
Although you can just buy an entrance ticket at the gate and make your own way around the exhibits and memorials, it is much more interesting and far more informative to go round with a guided tour group. Some of the guides are navy veterans or their descendants, but all of them are passionate about passing on their knowledge of this thought-provoking experience.
Also, another advantage of a booked tour is that you are guaranteed* your entrance to the USS Arizona Memorial and usually with a set time, which means you can plan the rest of your day. Without the tour, you would need to be at the Visitors Centre between 6 and 7.00am to be issued with a ticket which allocates your time slot to visit. However, these do go very quickly, and you may have several hours wait to get to the Memorial. On busier days, they do sometimes have to turn visitors away!
Also, we recommend;
Due to security measures at Pearl Harbour, they operate a 'no bags' policy. This includes handbags, large purses (small money purse or wallet is fine), backpacks, bum bags/fanny packs, baby bags and camera bags. Cameras are allowed but lenses longer than 6 inches are not allowed. If bags are brought to the area, you will have to leave them in a locker area at the entrance to the National Park, at a cost of $4 per bag. You cannot leave bags in the bus.
The Offer includes:

NB. * - There is a very small chance of not being able to visit the USS Arizona Memorial, due to circumstances beyond the Tour Companys' control. For example, in bad weather, or, in extreme circumstances, if there is a shortage of boat launch tickets, though this is an extremely rare occurrance. If visiting in peak holiday times, we strongly recommend booking as early as possible.
