Ideal to do on your first couple of days in Hawaii, the sunrise over the Haleakala Crater can be breathtaking!  Because of the time difference, and your body clock, especially if you transfer straight through to Hawaii without a few nights in the USA, you'll be wide awake at 3.00 in the morning anyway, so why not make the most of it!

After an early start, you will take a luxury motor coach up 10,000 feet to the top of the Haleakala National Park, where you witness the amazing changing colours as the sun gradually floats up above the horizon, to bath the crater and lunar-like landscape with ever-changing light and shadows.

Once the dawn has broken, and you have enjoyed some complimentary coffee and pastries for breakfast, you get to spend some time exploring the Park, the crater, trails and the Puu Ulaula lookout, taking hundreds of photos as you go, before heading back down towards civilisation!

On your return trip, you will visit some of the flower gardens of 'upcountry' Maui, and see some of the indigenous and rare plants that grow in this sometimes inhospitable region.

You will then be dropped back at your hotel, usually between 10.30 - 11.00am, just in time for a freshen up before lunch, and the afternoon free for your next adventure!

We recommend good, comfortable walking shoes/boots and warm clothing, better in several layers that can be taken off as the day warms up.  The summit can be quite cool, especially is the early hours before the sun rises and because of the altitude.  Also, take bottled water, sunglasses and of course, your camera!

Please note, because of the high altitude, anyone with breathing difficulties or heart problems should seriously reconsider doing this trip, and seek medical advice relevant to their personal circumstances.
