Ninamu Resort

On the south-west corner of the Tikehau Atoll, lies an 18 acre private island of white sand and coral, where this stunning new Resort hides away.  Designed to take great advantage of the beautiful lagoon, the Ninamu Resort caters to anyone who loves the water, either cruising, surfing or floating on the surface, or diving or snorkelling under it!

Offering just 8 private bungalows, accommodating just 20 guests in total, the Resort is small and personal, and an ideal, back-to-nature, retreat from the hectic pace of life.

The 8 individually-named, thatched bungalows are all hand built and crafted from natural, locally sourced materials, and are all different in construction, each using which ever shape of tree or driftwood they had to hand, to influence the design.  They offer 1, 2 or 3 bedrooms but each has a different layout. Some have mezzanine levels with sitting or bedroom areas, others have open air sitting rooms overlooking the gardens or the beach.  Each of the Bungalows are alongside the path through the trees, with 3 right on the beach, and 3 amongst the lush garden landscaping.  Each have king or queen size beds with mosquito nets, ensuite bathroom, sitting area (some with pull out sofa beds), ceiling fans and furnished sun deck.  2 of the bungalows have 2 or 3 separate bedrooms, making them ideal for families or groups of friends to share.

The main building houses the restaurant, bar, and lounge area, for guests to relax and mingle, if you wish.  The restaurant serves a daily buffet featuring fresh fish and seafood, usually caught not too far away, as well as local fruit and vegetables, grown on an organic farm on another nearby atoll called Eden Island, and free-range meat and poultry.  Fresh bread is baked daily  The Resort is almost all-inclusive, as all food, snacks, tea and coffee are included, just the drinks are charged for.

There are many free activities at Ninamu, including some instruction and free use of all the watersports equipment, such as kayaks, jet ski, kiteboarding, surfing, snorkelling and paddles.  Deep sea fishing is also available, with a local charge.  Free Wi-Fi internet access is also available in the restaurant and lounge area.

The Ninamu Resort is a very 'green' resort, and has installed solar panels to provide all their energy needs and to heat all the hot water.  The rain water is captured in tanks to provide drinking water and a well provides ground water for grey-water purposes, such as toilets.

The Ninamu Resort is not a high-end luxury resort, but a natural, individual property, with a friendly, laid-back Tahitian ambiance.  The Resort has enough modern conveniences for today's travellers to be comfortable, without losing the traditional Polynesian atmosphere of living in harmony with nature.
