The Le Tahiti by Pearl Resorts, formally the Tahiti Pearl Beach Resort, is one of Tahiti's newest resorts, having opened in 2005, when it opened as the Radisson Plaza Resort Tahiti. Located 10 to 20 minutes from the airport on the opposite side of Papeete, the hotel is built right on the black sand beach of Lafayette Beach, in Matavai Bay, which is the site at which Capt. Samuel Wallis and the crew of the HMS Dolphin landed in June 1767 and claimed the island for King George III, a claim that did not stand the test of time!
Up until late 2014, the hotel was managed by Radisson, but then had a change of management company to South Pacific Management. They will be upgrading and refurbishing some of the rooms and other areas of the hotel over the coming years
The resort offers 165 rooms accommodated in seven buildings, split between 85 Deluxe Ocean View Rooms, 18 of which are Premium, 54 Ocean View Suites, with 13 Premium Suites, and 26 Ocean View Duplex Suites, 14 of which are Premium category, all with ocean views and a covered balcony. Some Ocean View rooms also offer a jacuzzi on the enclosed balcony with great ocean views. There is also going to be a brand new Premium 2-Bedroom Ocean View Suite on the top floors.
The room decor is very calming and contemporary with a Polynesian infuence, with beautiful dark wood furniture and cabinetry, cream walls and neutral, earth tone soft furnishings, with bright tropical flower, soft plum or deep blue-grey accents. All the rooms were refurbished in 2017-2018, along with all the public areas in the resort.
The Deluxe Ocean View Rooms offer 1 King or 2 single beds, an ensuite bathroom with hairdryer and complimentary toiletries, air conditioning, mini-bar/fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, IDD telephone, remote control TV, work desk and chair internet access (fee), in-room safe, iron and ironing board and sliding doors opening to a private balcony with table and chairs, and views over the pool, gardens and beach to the ocean beyond. The Deluxe Ocean View Jacuzzi Rooms are the same as the standard rooms, but part of the balcony has been enclosed to house a private jacuzzi tub, with wooden louvered windows so you can enjoy the view whilst you relax. The Premium Ocean View and Premium Jacuzzi rooms offer the same amenities as the standard rooms but are located on the top floors of each building, affording these rooms uninterrupted panoramic views, and additionally offer bathrobes and slippers in the bathrooms, a nightly turndown service, complimentary internet access, a welcome gift and upgraded selected amenities.
The Deluxe Ocean View Suites provide similar amenities as the standard rooms, but offer a separate bedroom with either 1 King bed or 2 Doubles, a larger ensuite bathroom with double vanities, a separate bath and walk-in shower, a spacious separate lounge with 3 piece suite. coffee table and double sliding doors opening to your private, furnished balcony. The Premium Ocean View Suites offer similar amenities to the Deluxe Suites, but are located on the top floors with fantastic views, as well as bathrobes and slippers in the bathrooms, a nightly turndown service, complimentary internet access, a welcome gift and upgraded selected amenities, including brand new flat screen TV.
The Premium Duplex Suites are spacious, 2 level suites on the top floors of each building, and consist of a separate upstairs bedroom with a King bed (or 2 twin beds) and ensuite bathroom, and a separate living area downstairs, and both areas giving access to private balconies to enjoy the view.
The 2-Bedroom Premium Suite is, again, located on the top floor, and offers a similar layout to the Duplex Suite, but with 2 spacious bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a large living area, a terrace kitchen, a sizable balcony with dining table and chairs, plus all the Premium benefits.
The Resorts' restaurant, Hiti Mahana, is open for all meals, and offers a very French/European inspired menu with Asian and Pacific Rim cuisine, and uses as much fresh local seafood, meats and vegetables as is available. Room service is available if you wish or you could take the complimentary shuttle or a short taxi ride back into Papeete town centre, and try some of the many shops bars and restaurants available there. The Bay Bar offers a wide range of local and imported wines, beers and spirits, plus a selection of cocktails to enjoy, especially at Happy Hour, and it has a fantastic view over the pool, beach and sea with amazing sunset views.
For the energetic there is a wonderful infinity-edge pool, right on the beach front with a pool bar serving drinks, snacks and light bites, a well equipped fitness centre, a sauna & steam room, easy access to the black sand beach and the sea, a weekly traditional dinner show, and many cultural and complimentary sporting activites to enjoy. The Activities Desk in the Lobby can arrange tours and excursions, and can book car hire or tickets if you need them to. And when you want to relax, the Tavai Spa day spa offer a range of calming body and beauty treatments. The Business Centre offers computors, printers and secretarial services for guests and their conference team can put together conference and meetings packages.
Being so close to Papeete town, airport and the harbour, this property is an ideal Resort to stay pre- or post-cruise or for a few days stay on Tahiti either before or after an outer island stay. Although this is a lovely property, we feel it is more suited to short stopover stays, than your entire vacation.

Although there are frequent
international flights into Tahiti, there are limited airports of
embarkation to choose from, with currently only Paris, Los Angeles,
Auckland and Tokyo offering single plane air service to
Tahiti.
The international airline for French Polynesia. is Air Tahiti
Nui, who operate daily flights from Paris and Los
Angeles to Tahiti, and on some days there are additional fights
to/from Los Angeles. In addition, they operate two weekly flights
to/from Auckland and they serve Tokyo twice a week. Their services
to New York and Sydney have been suspended, at this
time.
Air France
currently offer a service from Paris, three times a week via Los
Angeles
Air New Zealand
operates daily flights via LA to Papeete, and 5 days a week from/to
Auckland with it's own aircraft. It also operates a codeshare
arrangements with Air Tahiti Nui providing seats on their fights
from Tahiti to Auckland and Los Angeles.
United Airlines operate 3 times a week from San Francisco to Papeete, on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, which will connect to their daily flight from Heathrow.
Air Calin
operate a weekly flight between Noumea, in New Caledonia, and
Tahiti.
Hawaiian
Airlines provide a weekly service between Honolulu and
Tahiti, currently operating on a Saturday/Sunday schedule.
LANChile
operate a flight once a week from Santiago to Tahiti via
Easter Island, providing the availability to do a great side trip
from Tahiti to Easter island.
Air Tahiti is
French Polynesia's domestic airline, which operates an extensive
domestic flight network covering all the country's main islands,
with at least a daily service. With the main Society islands
receiving a number of flights a day, since Air Moorea stopped
operations between Tahiti and Moorea, the flight connections now to
Moorea have become limited, most connections between the two are
now done by ferry boat.
The less populated and outer islands have a restricted service, so
sometimes a night stop in Tahiti may be required when connecting to
these islands.
Air Tahiti
provide the only air service between Tahiti and the Cook islands,
which they currently do once a week on a Thursday, an extra high
season flight is operated between June and August
There are a number of aircraft and helicopters available for private charters, but they all tend to be based in Tahiti so arranging charters between the outer islands can be expensive as the aircraft will originate and terminate in Tahiti. Tahiti Nui Helicopters are one such company that operate resort transfers (where helipad available), inter-island flights and sightseeing trips. Contact us for further info.
