Haumana Cruises

The Haumana Tahiti small ship cruises sail a 118ft (36m) catamaran motor yacht, with just 11 stateroom cabins and 1 Panoramic Fetia Suite, providing for a maximum of just 24 guests on each journey.  They have a Polynesian crew of 13, giving attentive and personal service, and with the smaller size of the yacht, they are able to access shallow waters around the beautiful islands.

The Haumana catamaran operates 3 night island cruises, taking in the beautiful islands of Raiatea, Taha'a and Bora Bora, sailing in both directions.  This means you could add the cruise into a longer itinerary where you can further explore the start or finishing islands of Bora Bora and Raiatea, with a few more nights on one or both islands before or after your cruise.

The Ninamu and Mahana cabins are modern in design and well equipped, with a queen bed, ensuite shower room with hair dryer and complimentary toiletries, air conditioning, flat screen TV, mini-bar/fridge, in-room safe and 2 large portholes to enjoy the sunrise views.  There are 2 Ninamu cabins on the lower main deck and 9 Mahana cabins on middle deck, along with the spacious Panoramic Fetia Suite, which is more than double the size of the staterooms, and offers a King bed, ensuite shower room, hidden flat screen TV with CD/DVD player, in-room safe, minibar/fridge and 2 sitting areas; 1 with 2 armchairs and table, and another with built in sofa overlooking the front of the ship from the bank of large windows across the front of the suite.

The Haumana has several areas to relax and enjoy your time aboard.  The restaurant is on the main deck at the stern, with inside and outside tables, plus a lounge seating area and access to the marina deck off the back of the ship, where you can easily jump in for a swim or snorkelling, go kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding.  On the upper bridge deck isw the spacious lounge bar with seating areas and panoramic views, and the inner lounge with TV, book and DVD library.  On the main deck at the bow, there is a sun deck with double sun bed, tables and chairs and amazing views.

The restaurant serves a fresh tropical breakfast each morning, and lunch and dinner menus feature freshly caught fish each day, which could be  tuna, sea bream, mahi mahi, which ever jumps on the line that day, you won't get fresher, and tropical fruits and fresh local produce from the islands is also used as much as possible.  A good selection of wines and beverages to complement their menus is available at each meal.  Sometimes, you could choose to dine on a private motu, picnic on the beach or have a romantic moonlight dinner on the bow sundeck.

Cultural activities, like pandanus weaving and pareo painting, are available for guests to enjoy on board, and the proud Polynesian crew share their traditions and culture, with stories and live music and entertainment each evening. Excursions can be arranged to pearl farms, private motus and village visits, some may be included, others there may be an extra cost to book.

Itineraries start either in Bora Bora or Raiatea and are 3 nights/4 days duration, and cruise the same route, just one going north, one going south.

Raiatea to Bora Bora - Poerava Cruise

  • Day 1. Boarding starts in Raiatea at the dock in Uturoa at 2.00pm.  Whilst everyone settles in and finds their favourite spot to enjoy a cold drink, the ship cruises north from Raiatea around the coastline of Taha'a, to the overnight anchorage in the lagoon off the north coast of the island.  Dinner is served on board.
  • Day 2. Breakfast is served aboard while still at anchor in the Taha'a lagoon, where you can spend the morning swimming or snorkelling from a deserted motu.  Lunch is served on board, and the afternoon can be spent exploring or joining an excursion to a pearl farm or vanilla plantation.   Dinner is served aboard, whilst you set sail toward Bora Bora, and cruise smoothly overnight.
  • Day 3. Breakfast is served as you savor your first view of Bora Bora lagoon, where you can spend the morning enjoying marine activites and exploring the lagoon, or booking a place on an optional excursion, until lunch is served on deserted sandy motu.  Later in the afternoon, with everyone back on board, it's time to relax with a few drinks and maybe the crew entertaining you traditional music and song after dinner, as you gently cruise the Bora Bora lagoon, to anchor for the last night.
  • Day 4. You have time for your last breakfast aboard and final packing until you disembark around 10.00am at the Vaitape dock, on the central island.

  • Day 4. Whilst you enjoy your last breakfast aboard and final packing, you cruise round Taha'a towards Raiatea, where you disembark around 10.00am at the Uturoa dock on the north shore
