Taha'a, The vanilla island, is the fifth island in the Society Islands chain sharing the same lagoon and reef with the neighbouring island, of Raiatea.

Taha'a is the most mountainous of the Society islands so much so that there is not enough flat coastal plain land for an airport to be built so one has to fly to Raiatea than take a boat transfer.

The island mountanoiuos scenery is truly spectacular being dominated by Mount Ohiri which rises to almost two thousand feet (598 meters), a 4 wheel jeep safari to it's summit affords the adventurous with a wonderful visually experience which includes a not to distant view of Bora Bora.

Because of the lack of flat land the accommodation to be found on the main island is in pensions, the full hotel service accommodation has been built on the small sand and coral motu's (islands) which form part of the islands reef. These locations provide the visitor with more space and some great views across the lagoon of the main island.

Currently there are three hotels to choose from, although we expect more to follow very soon. There is the world class Taha'a Private Island Resort and Spa, and two small 2.5 to 3 star hotels, but 5 star experiences, Vahine Island Resort and La Pirogue. With these three resorts and the pensions Taha'a offers the visitor a wide range of accommodation to fit all budgets, and provide everybody with the same wonderful memories, of this wonderfully unspoilt island.
