The Aituaki Escape is a small, luxury property, set right on the beautiful white sand beach in Amuri Village, overlooking the turquoise waters of the Pacific.
With only 3 villas, this is not a place where you are going to be crowded with other guests, and each of the contemporary, island-style villas have private sundecks in an enclosed courtyard garden with sun loungers, table and chairs and a private pool at the front of the villas, and a second private beachfront deck at the back, with more loungers and a boardwalk to the waters' edge, with fabulous beach and sea views. Each villa has an outdoor BBQ area, 2 kayaks on the beach, and they have complimentary snorkelling equipment and bicycles for guests to use.
The two, 1-bedroom fully air conditioned villas offer a separate bedroom with hand-made ironwood super king-size 4-poster bed, with insect curtains, and a tropical ensuite bathroom, with double vanities, a wet-room, pebble-floor shower with glass roof, to shower under the stars, separate enclosed WC and floor-to-ceiling windows looking into your private courtyard garden. There is a separate, spacious living room with well equipped kitchen, and bi-folding doors that open to the beachside deck. The kitchen offers a full size fridge-freezer, sink, 4-ring gas cooktop, microwave and tea and coffee making facilities. The spacious lounge area has comfortable sofas, entertainment system with 50" TV with on demand movies and iPod connection, and cool marble-tiled floors.
The spacious 2-bedroom villa offers similar amenities, but has a larger courtyard garden deck and pool, generous living room, a spacious kitchen and huge beachside deck with loungers and large dining table, plus a separate boardwalk romantic dining area or lounging deck. The 2 separate bedrooms, 1 facing the beach, the 2nd looking into the pool courtyard, both have hand-made 4-poster beds and ensuite bathrooms, with double vanities and glass-block walk-in showers.
Each morning, in case you don't feel like getting up to make your own in the kitchen, a complimentary continental tropical breakfast is delivered to your villa, which includes freshly prepared fruits, cheese, cereals, sliced bread (for toasting) with butter and jams, plus a selection of freshly baked bread and breakfast pastries. There is also a little air conditioned cafe on site, Rumours Cafe, where you can order a cooked breakfast (Mon-Sat) or order one as room service, enjoy a light lunch (Mon-Sat) or an evening dinner (Weds, Fri + Sun).
Apart from the lovely, sandy beach right in front of the villas, there are some great snorkelling spots in the warm, shallow water in a number of places just a few minutes up the beach from the resort, which you can walk, wade or use the complimentary kayaks to experience. There are bicycles and snorkelling equipment free for guests' use, and back in resort, there is a DVD, CD and book library to chill out with. The friendly and helpful staff are more than happy to book car or scooter hire for you and recommend tours and excursions to try out or places to go to explore the island. Lagoon cruises and trips to deserted islands, like One Foot Island nearby, can also be arranged for you
Aitutaki Escape can also arrange small and intimate weddings, on the beach right in front of your villa, or on a deserted motu (island) in the lagoon. Small wedding groups can hire all 3 villas together giving you personal service all to yourselves. And if you stay 7 nights or more in any villa, they offer a FREE Intimate Wedding package, which includes a personal Wedding co-ordinator, all wedding documents, license and fees, Brida and groom's flowers, Polynesian flower arch on the beach, minister to perform your ceremony, and witnesses (if required). But if you've already had the wedding, and are staying here for your honeymoon, stay 5 nights or more, and there are free gifts, such as flowers, masages and a romantic dinner for 2, just perfect for the happy couple.
Aitutaki Escape is a wonderful, personal property where it is almost like staying in someones' home, just on a great beach with the ocean 10 feet from your private deck.
The Aitutaki Escape participates in the 'Dine Around the Island' special offer, with 5, 6 and 7 night packages. Please contact us for further information and prices

Currently, there are very limited International flight connections to and from the Cook islands. All international flights operate into Rarotonga and there are domestic connection flights into Aitutaki, Atiu and Mangaia.
The main international carrier is Air New Zealand, with direct air service provided six days a week from and to Auckland (currently there is no flight on a Friday), and once a week to and from Los Angeles, currently departing Rarotonga on a Friday arriving LA on the Saturday. The return flight leaves LA on Saturday and arrives Rarotonga on Sunday morning. They operate on a new B777-200ER aircraft, with 26 Business, 40 Premium Economy and 246 Economy seats. The Premium Economy seats are the first to be offered on this route.
There is also a year round once a week flight with Air New Zealand between Rarotonga and Sydney, departing Rarotonga on Thursday arriving Sydney on Friday and departing Sydney on Friday arriving in Rarotonga on Friday, operating on a B767-300 aircraft, with 24 Business and 206 Economy seats.
There is also a year round once a week flight with Air New Zealand between Rarotonga and Sydney, departing Rarotonga on a Friday arriving Sydney on Saturday and departing Sydney on Saturday arriving in Rarotonga on Saturday. From November 2016, the schedule will change to opertaing ex Rarotonga on a Thursday and returning from Sydney on Friday, operating on a B767-300 aircraft, with 24 Business and 206 Economy seats.
Virgin Australia operate 3 days a week from Auckland to Rarotonga, using a 737 aircraft, departing Auckland on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, arriving in Rarotonga the previous day (as you cross the International dateline), and returning flights Tuesday, Thursday and Friday arriving two days later (cross the International dateline again in the other direction adding a day, plus arriving after midnight into the next day).
Also, for the winter months, (June-October 2016), they will be operating a direct flight Christchurch, on New Zealand's South Island, to Rarotonga. Departing on Saturday and arriving in Rarotonga on Friday (cross the date line), and returning the same day, Friday to arrive back in Christchurch on Sunday (date line and midnight time crossing), this will save visitors having to travel up to Auckland to get to the Cook Islands.
Jetstar, a new
airline starting in New Zealand, started a new flight schedule from
Auckland to Rarotonga in March 2016. At present, they are
planning to operate from and to Auckland on Tuesday, Saturday and
Sunday, with the return flight being the same days, due to arriving
and departing after midnight, and will arrive back in Auckland the
following days, due to crossing the international dateline.
Air Tahiti
operate up to twice weekly flights from Papeete, Tahiti to
Rarotonga, currently on a Saturday and Thursday. However, on
most weeks they only operate the Thursday flight!
All
domestic flights within the Cook islands are operated
by Air Rarotonga. Their main route
is Rarotonga to Aitutaki, on which they operate up to five daily
services, except Sunday, when only one is operated (up till the end
of 2009 no flights were permitted to operate domestically on a
Sunday).
They also provide frequent services to the other main islands in
the Southern group. However, air access to the Northern group
is currently very restricted, to the point where it is almost
impossible for tourists to book flights, due to the limited seats
that are offered. Quite a lot of the time, the
seats are reserved for Government officials and the local residence
of the Northern islands.
Airline Seat Maps
For most airlines, we can pre-reserve seats for you once your flight booking is confirmed, and will do so as a matter of course. If you would like to have a look at a seat plan for your aircraft, you can check the airlines' own website, or one of the best independent websites for this information is SeatGuru.com, which is part of the Tripadvisor group.
