The Andaz West Hollywood is a chic boutique hotel, right on the famous Sunset Boulevard, in the hip and chic neighbourhood of West Hollywood.  Surrounded by the Hollywood Hills to the north, Beverly Hills to the south-west, Hollywood to the east and the skyline of the metropolis of Central Los Angeles city to the south, the hotel has fantastic views in all directions, and is close to all the shops, bars restaurants and attractions you may want to visit during your stay.

 

The Andaz West Hollywood used to be a normal Hyatt, until 2008-9, when it was completely refurbished in the designer style of the Andaz brand.  In its previous life it was know as the 'Riot Hyatt', as many a 70's rock band, such as Led Zeppelin, The Who and The Rolling Stones, used to make this their base due to its proximity to the many clubs and music venues on the Sunset Strip.   This is the famous hotel where 'allegedly', Led Zepplin drummer John bonham rode a motorcycle through the hallways and both Keith Moon (The Who) and Keith Richards (Rolling Stones) threw TV's from the balconies! Those balconies, after several 'Rock Star' instances, have now been encased in glass as sunrooms in the View bedrooms, and the hotel is now a calm, and much quieter hotel, popular with business travellers and tourists alike.

 

The 14 storey Andaz West Hollywood has 239 Guest Rooms and Suites, offering views of the Hollywood Hills or the Sunset Strip and Los Angeles Skyline.  All the rooms are modern and contemporary, with designer touches in decor, furnishings and lighting.

 

The 277sqft/25sqm Standard Guest Rooms have views of the Hollywood Hills behind the hotel, and are decorated in chic pale grey and white colours.  They offer 1 King or 2 Queen beds, ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower, bathrobes, hairdryer and complimentary toiletries, air conditioning, small fridge with complimentary mini bar with snacks and non-alcoholic drinks, iron and ironing board, work desk and chair, complimentary Wi-Fi internet access, easy chair, 2 telephones with free local calls, laptop-sized safe, alarm clock, iHome stereo with iPod docking station, flat screen TV with in-room movies, and large picture windows with views of the hills.

 

The 342sqft/32sqm City View Rooms are on the front of the building, with classic coffee and cream colours, modern furnishings and great city views.  They offer the same basic amenities as the Standard Rooms, but additionally have a glass-enclosed sun room with chaise longue and large comfy chair with foot stool.  The floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall windows offer fantastic panoramic views of the Sunset Strip, the city skyline and on clear day, even the sea at Santa Monica!

 

The spacious Andaz Suites offer 800sqft/74sqm of space with modern light decor and designer furnishings, lighting and artwork.  They offer the same facilities as the Standard rooms, but with upgraded quality and design, and additionally offer a separate bedroom with 1 King or 2 Queen beds with a large picture window overlooking Sunset Boulevard, and a separate living room with designer dining table and chairs, sofa with chaise longue and the glass-enclosed sunroom with panoramic city views.

 

There is also a unique Penthouse Suite, that offers 1,400sqft130sqm of luxury space, with a separate bedroom with King-size bed, large flat screen TV and patio doors to the balcony, luxury ensuite bathroom with double vanities, marble walk-in shower, and large soaking tub with city views, a spacious, contemporary lounge, with dining area, wet bar and wine chiller, a separate cloakroom, 2 large screen TV's, Geneva sound system, and sliding patio doors to a private wrap-around balcony with modern, designer sun loungers and chairs, and amazing views of the Strip and the city.

 

The Riot House Restaurant and Bar is just as modern and chic as the rooms at the Andaz.  Offering a large and varied menu, they use many local farm-fresh ingredients and market-to-table items, to give the freshest tasting dishes.  Breakfast is a smorgasbord of everything you think of for the start of the day, from fresh pancakes, waffles, pastries and eggs anyway, to fresh fruit, smoothies, cereals and fresh omelets.  The main menu for lunch or dinner offers soups, salads and sandwiches, steaks, pastas and pizzas, again, using many fresh local ingredients, plus specials and signature dishes.  The Riot House Bar serves almost anything you can think of, including an extensive wine list, with many local Californian wines, and all with Sunset Strip views.   If you want to eat or drink in your room, room service is available, or if you want to go out, there are many different restaurants and bars within a few blocks of the the hotel, and hundreds more just a short taxi ride further.

 

The Andaz West Hollywood has a good range of facilities and amenities for guests, including a 24 hour fitness centre with personal trainers, in-room spa service from the Olehenriksen Day Spa, and a fabulous roof-top pool and sundeck.  The highest roof-top pool in LA, the Andaz pool has a pool bar that serves drinks, snacks and light bites, a wide sundeck with many sunloungers, and another sundeck area with large daybeds overlooking the city skyline with fantastic views, day and night.

The Andaz West Hollywood is in a great location for many of LA's attractions.  The Comedy Store and House of Blues are neighbours, nearby, there are 100+ restaurants, cafes, diners, delis, and coffee shops, and 40+ nightclubs, bars and lounges, many within an easy walking distance. Rodeo Drive, Wilshire Boulevard, Hollywood Boulevard, Sunset Boulevard, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and Central LA are just a couple of miles away, with all the shops, bars, restaurants and attractions they offer, and Santa Monica Beach and Marina Del Ray just 11 or 12 miles away, just a 25 minute cab ride away (with good traffic!).
