The New York New York Las Vegas Hotel and Casino is one of the most recognisable themed hotels on the famous Las Vegas Strip, with a replica of famous New York skyline buildings with a lake to represent New York Harbour, a rollercoaster and recreations of the Brooklyn Bridge, Grand Central Station, Ellis Island and an impressive, iconic 150-foot high Statue of Liberty presiding over the Strip.  Located at the southern end of the Strip, and close to many other major properties, such as the MGM Grand, Tropicana, Monte Carlo and the Aria, this hotel and casino is in a great location for exploring up and down the Strip.

 

Although not as huge as some hotels in Las Vegas, it is still a large property with 2024 rooms and suites spread over 12 iconic New York Manhattan skyline-themed towers, 11 different restaurants, 6 lounge bars, a theatre with Cirque De Soleil show, outdoor pool with hot tubs and private cabanas, a full service spa and fitness centre and, of course, the Casino.

 

The standard rooms are the 350sqft/32sqm Park Avenue Guest rooms or the 400sqft/37sqm Madison Avenue Guest rooms which offer 1 King or 2 Queen beds, ensuite bathroom with granite countertops, bath/shower, hairdryer and complimentary toiletries, air conditioning, 40" flat  screen TV with pay-per-view and cable channels, complimentary Wi-Fi and city or Strip views.  The Spa Suite is slightly larger than the rooms, with the same standard amenities and has 1 King bed and a 2-seater hot tub in the main room.  The 700sqft Marquis Suite is more spacious again and has a 4-seater hot tub and a dining table and chairs seating 4 guests.  The 800sqft Players Suite offers 2 Queen beds, hot tub, seating area and dining table and chairs, and the spacious 1-bedroom suite has a separate bedroom with ensuite bathroom, hot tub and seating area, and separate living room with dining table and chairs, sitting area and media centre.  The 1-Bedroom Penthouse Suite is the most spacious room, with a separate master bedroom with luxurious ensuite bathroom, and separate living area with sitting, dining and wet bar areas.  Rooms and Suites have city or Strip views depending on which of the 12 Manhattan skyline towers the room is located.  They range from the tallest, The Empire State Building with 45 floors, down to to the AT&T Building with just 26 floors.  All towers have multiple elevators, but some do not stop at every floor.

 

Dining at New York New York is varied and bounteous, with 11 different and distinct restaurants, from the Nine Fine Irishmen, a traditional Irish pub, to Gallagher's Steakhouse, you can find almost any food or cuisine to suite all tastes and budgets.  Breakfast is available in most of the eateries, and lunch and dinner menus are served at many restaurants until the wee hours, some being 24 hours.

 

Having a relaxing drink, a beer with friends or a fancy cocktail is another decision dilemma, as there are 10 different bars to choose between.  From the Nine Fine Irishmen pub and cocktails at The Chocolate Bar, to duelling pianos at the Bar at Times Square and a fun, party atmosphere and line dancing at Coyote Ugly.  Here, there is drinkery for all occasions and budgets.  Some venues do have a cover charge.

 

Activites at New York New York mainly revolve around the 84,000sqft casino, with over 65 gaming tables and over 1500 varied slot machines, games of luck and race and sports book.  With everything you would expect, such as blackjack, roulette, craps and poker, this is the place to try your luck at anything and everything - budget allowing, of course!

 

If you don't want to lose your shirt in the casino, you can always take it off around the outdoor pool and sun terrace, with jacuzzis and private cabanas to relax in the shade.  The full service Spa offers a wide range of body and beauty treatments to pamper yourself with, and the hair salon to do your hair and make-up, you can stun them on the Strip with a new you.

 

And there is so much to do in the hotel and around the area.  For the thrill seekers, there is a roller coaster, right on the roof! The Big Apple Coaster is 203ft at its highest point and 144ft in its longest drop with speeds up to 67mph.  The track has a 180 degree spiral, half and full loops and sweeping ups and downs to get your adrenaline going.  The erotic and sensual new Cirque de Soleil show, Zumanity, performs here each night, and this is definitely an over 18's show. Shopping is a big thing, too, with several unique boutiques in the hotel, and many more a short walk away.  Just next to the hotel is an outdoor entertainment area called the Park, where you can eat and drink, enjoy weekly live entertainment and special themed events, see a show or sporting event at the T-Mobile Arena or just enjoy the park-like paths, fountains and seating areas.

 

The New York New York is a full service, good quality hotel, at a reasonable cost, in a great location, and is definitely a property to consider for your stay in Las Vegas.
