Only built and opened in 2005, the Sanbis Resort is a small independant eco-resort on Mbabanga Island, overlooking the beautiful Gizo Lagoon, but only a few minutes from Gizo by boat.
The Resort only has 6 detached leaf house bungalows, totally separated from one another, and set right on the seashore amongst the tropical trees and coconut palms, each with a private verandah overlooking their own private beach, or shoreline.
Each bungalow has been built using local, natural materials, except the bathroom facilities, which have a luxury, western style. They offer a modern natural wood and tiled ensuite shower room with hot shower, hairdryer and imported fluffy towels, ceiling fan, insect screens on the windows, mosquito net over the Queen or Single beds, all with high thread-count Egyptian linens, and your private, furnished sundeck with stunning views of the lagoon. One of the bungalows is slightly bigger and offers 1 Queen bed and 3 Single beds.
There is also 'The Lodge', which is a large purpose-built, roundhouse and bungalow complex located away from the main resort on a small promontory with its own jetty. It has roughly a 300 degree view of the lagoon, allowing you to see the sunrise and the sunset from the same spot! The main Lodge has 3 split levels, with a airy living room with sofas, flat screen Satelite TV, music system, telephone and wireless internet access, then down 2 steps is a kitchenette with full-size fridge with ice-maker, microwave and tea and coffee making facilities, and a dining area, and down a few more steps is another sitting area and sun deck with chairs, BBQ facilities and a 6-seater jacuzzi, and amazing views. Just next door are 2 separate air-conditioned bungalows with their own bedroom with 1 Queen or 2 single beds, modern ensuite shower room and private verandah. The Lodge can sleep 4 very comfortably and additional single beds can be added if required. Another bonus with the Lodge, is you get a small motor boat for your exclusive use, either to meander across to the restaurant for dinner, potter across to Gizo town or to cruise around the lagoon during the day.
All the bungalows have solar panels and all lighting and ceiling fans are run from their battery storage facility, but the resort does have a turndown service, which includes setting your mosquito net and spraying insect spray, (precautionary rather than a necessity!) and lighting a kerosene lantern, to light your way to your bungalow on your return after dinner.
Due to their strong ecological guidlines, other than the Lodge, none of the other bungalows are supplied with fridges, but guests are welcome to leave things in the large fridges or freezers in the restaurant. Also, fresh drinking water is supplied to each bungalow daily, and hot water for tea and coffee is available is thermos flasks, which are replaced twice a day.
The SB Bar is a popular place with locals as well as guests, and being on the end if the jetty, has fantastic views of the lagoon. They offer a wide selection of drinks, a selection of bar meals and snacks, and also facilities to recharge batteries for camers, phones etc.
The SB Restaurant is only available to guests and offers fresh continental breakfasts, with fresh fruit, juices and freshly baked bread, and for lunch and dinner, a selection of local meat, fresh fish, home grown veg, freshly baked bread, and great pizzas, cooked in the only wood fired pizza oven in the Solomons.

Direct connecting flights will also apply on the return journey as well, Plus you can go from Los Angeles to Brisbane and make a direct connect to Honiara and this option is available six times a week. On the return journey a night's stay will be required in Brisbane, as the flight from Honiara arrives too late to make a same day connection.
Or you can travel Eastbound via a number of connecting points, like Dubai, Singapore, Hong Kong, or Seoul, then a direct connection on to Brisbane or Nadi, Fiji, then connection on to Honiara. This can be done six times a week, and again, on the return journey, as the flight from Honiara arrives in Brisbane, or other airports, to late to connect with most of the flights departing back to Europe, you may be required to have a night stop in another city.
