The Agnes Gateway Hotel, formally known as the Agnes Lodge, is a small family-run hotel located in Munda, on New Georgia Island, overlooking the beautiful Roviana Lagoon, and has been serving visitors to the Solomons for over 50 years.

Named after the founder, Agnes Kera, who, for nearly 30 years, had been the cook and custodian of the official British Solomons Government Resthouse, the building which is now known as the Orchid Wing. After Agnes's retirement, her family carried on the Anglo-Solomon hospitality traditions, and are proud to still do so today.

The Agnes Gateway today has 20 guest rooms and offers a range of accommodation from detached cottages and suites, right down to budget rooms and backpackers dormitories.   The Orchid Wing is the original rest house that has been recently refurbished, located close to the beach and offers the Orchid Seafront Suites, with 1 or 2 bedrooms with an ensuite bathroom with shower, air conditioning and a separate sitting room.  The Naru Wing has rooms with twin beds with ensuite facilities, the Zazala Wing has rooms with double beds, ensuite bathrooms on the upper floor, and dormitory rooms with 2 bunk beds, shared facilities and kitchenette, the new Ibibu Wing offers ensuite rooms with queen beds with lagoon views as well as 8 cottages with double or twin beds and ensuite facilities, and the 2-storey Tatangala Wing offers multi-bedded rooms with shared facilities.  All rooms have ceiling fans, mosquito nets, tea and coffee making facilities and mini-fridges.  Some rooms can also share a kitchen area if you wish to self cater.

The Roviana Restaurant is open all day and serves a variety of local and English-style dishes, including fresh seafood, caught locally, highlighted on the menu.  And if you happen to catch your dinner whilst out during the day, they are happy to cook it for you!  Friday nights there is an open Barbeque for any guest to enjoy, if you wish. You can mingle with locals and other guests and enjoy a sociable evening with freshly cooked food.

The Munda Bar is open from early morning round to late in the evening, where you can have a coffee watching the sunrise, or cold drink to watch the sunset, and take in the beautiful views of the Roviana Lagoon.

On site, there is a Munda Dive Shop, with qualified instructors, and Go West Tours, which between them can take you almost anywhere in the Western Province with their dive and tour boats, and canoes for closer day trips.  The small town of Munda, with a bank and a few  shops  is only a short walk away, as are a few other local villages, where you can see WWII relics and artifact, sometimes just sitting in someones garden, and also visit the carvers and craftspeople, to get a few souvenirs.

Agnes Lodge also owns a small coral island in the Roviana Lagoon, Hopei Island, where you can spend a day or half day being Robinson Crusoe, with just you, a canoe, a picnic, or if you wish, a 'Man Friday' can cook up a BBQ for you.  There is also a small 2 room lodge on the island, and if you wish, you can stay the night as well.

Agnes Lodge is a basic, budget property, in a nice location with lovely views over the Roviana Lagoon. Accommodation is not luxury, and has no frills and fancies, but offers the basic amenities for your stay.
