The Solomon Kitano Mendana Hotel is located near Honiara town centre, but right on the water's edge facing out into Iron Bottom Sound and across to Malaita Island. 

 

This hotel is close to the centre of Honiara town, within walking distance to shops, banks and post office, but is right on the seafront, with sea views from some of the rooms and the restaurant and coffee shop.  It is one of the largest hotels in the Solomon Islands and as such, will have a busier feel than other properties. 

 

There are 96 double, twin or family rooms, with ensuite facilities, mini fridge, air-conditioning, tea/coffee facilities, room service and have either garden or sea views.  There are also 3 Suites that have more space, and upgraded decor and bathroom facilities. 

 

There is an outdoor pool, gift shop, bar, business centre with internet access, tour booking desk, restaurant and coffee shop/cafe. The Capitana Restaurant specialises in Japanese as well as western cuisine, and the seafront Raratana Terrace Cafe serves drinks and snacks.

 

The hotel was refurbished in 2007, so is fairly modern in design and decor, but would not be classed as a luxury property compared to western hotels.
