Set on the hillside overlooking Honiara and Iron Bottom Sound, The King Solomon Hotel is located in the heart of the town, and is within easy walking distance of the islands' cultural museum, restaurants, cafes, shopping centres and banks.
There are 73 Deluxe and standard rooms available, and some rooms, higher up the hill, are reached by a short cable car ride from street level. They are air conditioned, with 1 king, and either 1 or 2 single beds, ensuite bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities, fridge, microwave, direct dialling phones, and satellite television with in-house movies and Australian TV. However, some rooms near the bar area can be noisy during the evening, and the rooms near the top of the hill can be quite a walk if the cable car power is out.
The hotel has a cafe, the Bamboo Bar, a restaurant, the Leaf Haus Restaurant, a bar and a night club with live entertainment. They offer a breakfast buffet with hot and cold options, and a varied menu for lunch and dinner. They also have a fitness room, a games room, a beauty and massage parlor, a gift shop and an infinity pool with waterfall and landscaped gardens. There is nightly entertainment and weekly poolside barbeques where all guests are welsome, and they can arrange many tours and fishing and day trips if required.
Wi-Fi Internet access is available in the hotel for a fee.
This hotel is owned by Solomon Islands Resorts, (which also owns the Gizo Hotel, Kennedy Island (where JFK was marooned in WWII), and Naru Private Island), and it is a basic property in a good location, close to the town and the airport, and would be ideal for short stopovers.

Flights operate from Brisbane, Nadi, Vanuatu and Port Moresby, as follows.
From Brisbane,
There is daily air service to Honiara provided by two airlines; Solomon Air, Virgin Australia. Both airlines offer early bookable discounted fares to and from Honiara, and some flights are included on some of the Around the World tickets which are offered.
From Nadi, Fiji
There are currently four flights a week between Honiara and Nadi, but the frequency does change throughout the year. Non-stop flights are offered twice a week by Air Niugini, on which Soloman Air have a code share, Fiji Airways, (was Air Pacific) also operate twice a week via Port Vila, Vanuatu

Fiji Airways (Air Pacific) operate two flights a week, and Solomon Air operates once a week.
From Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea
Air Niugini operate twice a week non-stop from Port Moresby, currently on a Friday and Sunday.
From the UK
Currently there are no international airlines offering a one airline flight option from the UK to the Solomon's, it will require travelling with a combination of airlines,
The most direct routings to Honiara would be westbound to Los Angeles, with a direct connection onto Nadi, Fiji, or and a direct connection on to Honiara, this routing can be done three times a week. Direct connecting flights will also apply on the return journey as well, Plus you can go from Los Angeles to Brisbane and make a direct connect to Honiara and this option is available six times a week. On the return journey a night's stay will be required in Brisbane, as the flight from Honiara arrives too late to make a same day connection.
Or you can travel Eastbound via a number of connecting points, like Dubai, Singapore, Hong Kong, or Seoul, then a direct connection on to Brisbane or Nadi, Fiji, then connection on to Honiara. This can be done six times a week, and again, on the return journey, as the flight from Honiara arrives in Brisbane, or other airports, to late to connect with most of the flights departing back to Europe, you may be required to have a night stop in another city.
