The Namukulu is a self-catering property situated on Nuie's northwest coast.  The friendly owners, Teressa and Brian, have put a lot of time and affection into the building and refurbishment of the resort, to give it a clean, modern feel but still with island charm.

They used to call the property a 'Motel' but given the size of the island and the lack of the ability to tour by car, we feel the use of the name is little inaccurate; we think the new name, Namukulu  Cottages, is definitely more fitting.

They offer 4 fully self contained, beautifully appointed Fales (bungalows) and 2 brand new studio apartments, that can sleep from 2 to 5 guests.  Each fale or apartment has its own solar powered hot water system, outdoor clothes line for washing, a gas barbecue, secure Wi-Fi internet access, and all windows are fitted with insect screen, so you can let the Pacific breezes in without letting in the wildlife!

The 2 brand new Studio Apartments are in the same building, one upstairs and one on the ground floor.  They have one large room with triple aspect louvered and wide-opening windows offering stunning views, especially from the first floor studio, which is above tree-top height.  There is a Queen bed with 2 bedside tables with lamps, a large wardrobe cupboard, an ensuite shower room with walk-in shower cubicle, toilet, vanity sink, and hairdryer, sitting area with 2 chairs, coffee table and TV with DVD player, a kitchennette area with fridge/freezer, 2-burner gas hob, coffee cafetiere, microwave, George Foreman Grill, kettle and sink, plus sliding patio doors to a shaded private verandah or terrace with table and chairs.

The three 1-bedroom Fales have a seperate bedroom with queen bed, ensuite shower room with hairdryer, walk-in shower cubicle toilet, and vanity sink, a kitchen area, a large lounge area with double pull-out sofa bed, dining table and chairs, TV, radio, DVD player (on request) and ceiling fan, a kitchenette with fridge-freezer, 2-burner gas hob, coffee cafetiere, George Foreman Grill, microwave, and sink, insect screened windows, Wi-Fi Internet access and a private furnished deck with views of the gardens, pool and the ocean.  There is a gas barbecue available for guests to use, as well.

There is also a new 2-bedroom cottage overlooking the pool, gardens and the sea.  It has 2 separate bedrooms, with 1 queen bed and 2 single beds and open closets, a shared bathroom with walk-in shower, toilet, vanity sink, hairdryer and complimentary washing machine, including washing powder, a large, open-plan kitchen/dining/living room, with a full-size fridge freezer, 4-burner gas hob, sink, microwave, coffee cafetiere, George Foreman Grill and kettle, dining table and chairs to seat 6, Queen-size sofabed, chairs and coffee table, TV, ceiling fans in every room, and 2 sliding patio doors out to a shaded private furnished deck, one from the living room and one from the master bedroom.  There is also a back door from the kitchen out to your own little area of garden with a clothes line, surrounded by tropical planting.

The property runs down the hill from the road, to the top of the cliff where the swimming pool has been located, just in front of the fales, and has a shade sail for sun protection whilst you swim!.  There is a path from the resort down the cliff through the tropical forest to the reef below, where you can use the free snorkelling equipment to explore the reef and the cave that adjoins the resort.  They also have complimentary mountain bikes and golf clubs for guests to use, if they wish, a shared laundry room (fee) and a small convenience store for supplies or last minute purchases, including wine and beer.

There is no restaurant on site, but they do have regular Barbeque evenings, where everyone is welcome.  Alternatively, the town of Alofi is just 10 minutes away, with several restaurant and bar options, including indian or fish and chips.

Namukulu Cottages have the only day spa on Nuie, and it offers a range of body and beauty treatments, but depending on the time of year, because of the heat, it has shorter opening hours.

If you want to tropical wedding, the Namukulu Cottages and Spa can arrange almost anything you wish, and there is even a package that gives you free run of the resort for the bride and groom plus 10 other guests, plus your ceremony, flowers, photographer, wedding cake and buffet and beverage package all included.  Although there is no beach at the resort, there is a beach nearby where your ceremony can take place, or you can have it in a cave, on the cliff top, in the resort gardens, or even underwater if you want to.

The Namukulu resort is the perfect location for the clients that want to go 'native' but with a little creature comfort.
