Orewa is located 25
miles (40km) north of Auckland, on the North Islands'
tropically-named Hibiscus Coast, just a few miles from the more
inland State Highway 1. Being so close to the main
north-bound tourist route makes Orewa a good base for touring
the surrounding area.
With it's stunning, long,
sandy beach, it is a popular holiday destinations for New
Zealanders as well as foreign visitors, and is considered one of
the fastest growing areas in New Zealand, which makes real estate
prices amongst the most expensive in the country! With
a community of around 9,000 permanent residents, the town's
population swells to over 30,000 during the summer months, with
visitors, tourists and New Zealanders with holiday homes in the
town.
The beach is the focus of the town,
where you can surf, kitesurf, kiteboard, swim, snorkel and
dive. But the town is close to many tourist attractions along
SH 1, and activities such as museums, forested parks offering
numerous woodland activities, vineyard, farm and garden visits, a
thermal resort and spa, golfing, indoor skiing, cycling and
go-karting can all be enjoyed within a short drive from the
town.
Being popular as a tourist
destination, means the choice of accommodation is vast and there is
a huge choice to suit every taste and budget.
