To experience the best of this stunning county  we recomend that you consider a self-drive holiday and go as you please.  Driving in New Zealand is very easy and once away from the main cities you see very little traffic. The roads are very well maintained, although possibly a little narrow, which can, at times, be a little frustrating, but they do have sections of wider carriageway for overtaking so it may be handy to select a car with a larger engine so that you have the power to overtake when you need it?
