The Hotel Budapest is a new property that has only just opened (summer 2017) offering good budget accommodation that is in a quiet area near Anibare, on the north-east coast of the island, but still only a short distance from the shops, bars and restaurants dotted along the 19km coastal ring road.

 

The 2 storey hotel has been built with functionality in mind, rather than pretty aesthetics, so the exterior is very plain and simple, maybe looking a bit more like an office building, but is cost effective (a big consideration on an island where everything has to be imported!), and perfectly suitable for its purpose.  The 30 rooms are relatively basic, but quite spacious, light and airy with 1 Queen bed, modern ensuite bathroom with shower, desk and chair, TV, small kitchenette area with fridge, kettle, microwave and toaster, and also a washing machine.  Half the rooms face the sea with the other half facing the road behind the property.  There is a small beach area just in front of the hotel, but there is a fair bit of coral and may not be suitably deep for swimming without injury!

 

There is no restaurant or dining facilities at the property, but nearby, within a few minutes drive or taxi, or 5-10 minut walk, there is their own cafe, the Tropicana Cafe, open every morning from 7.00am for breakfast, and there are more local shops bars and restaurants at various places on the coast road.  This circular coast road is only 19km long and goes round the entire island.  There is limited local public transport and staff would be able to advise on timings and destinations.

 

The Budapest Hotel is the more expensive hotel on the island, but from what we have seen and heard, it is the nicer of all of them.
