Situated on the atoll of Fakarava just a seventy minute flight from Tahiti, the White Sand Beach Resort (was the Le Maitai Dream resort, until August '09) is the first moderately priced resort to be built on an outer island in French Polynesia and is also the first to quote its prices inclusive of all meals.
Built on a palm fringed white sand and crushed coral beach, the resort offers three types of accommodation with 15 Tiare Bunngalows, 6 Beach bungalows, and 9 Premium beach bungalows. The spacious bungalows are built of local materials to a traditional Polynesian style and can sleep upto three with a private bedroom, central ceiling fan ventilation, mini bar and IDD telephone.
The restaurant and bar are built facing the lagoon, which makes for an ideal setting for your dining experience.
The Fakarava lagoon is teeming with many species of fish so is ideal for those looking for a quiet location from which to do their scuba diving. We would recommend the White Sand Beach resort for its wonderful location and its great value.
Please note, THAT FROM THE START OF 2011 the Resort was under new managment , and they undertook a programme of refurbishments to improve and upgrade the property and the rooms, including new sheets, bedding and soft furnishings, new fans in all accommodation, air conditioning in the Beach Premium rooms, new landscaping, new boats for guest excursions, new international menu in the renamed Turquoise Restaurant and a new international chef,

Although there are frequent international flights into Tahiti,
French Polynesia's international gateway to the World, there are
limited airports of embarkation to choose from, with currently only
Paris, Los Angeles, Auckland and Tokyo offering one plane air
service to Tahiti.
The international airline for French Polynesia. is Air Tahiti Nui who operate daily flights from Paris and Los Angeles to Tahiti and on many days there are additional fights to/from Los Angeles. In addition they operate two weekly flights to/from Auckland and they serve Tokyo twice a week. Their services to New York and Sydney have been suspended.
Air France currently offered service from Paris, three times a week via Los Angeles
Air New Zealand operates twice a week from/to Auckland with it's own aircraft, it also operates a codeshare arrangements with Air Tahiti Nui providing seats on their two weekly fights from Tahiti to Auckland.
Air Cali, operate a weekly flight between Noumea and Tahiti.
Hawaiian Airlines, provide a weekly service between Honolulu and Tahiti, currently operating on a Saturday/Sunday schedule.
LANChile, operate a flight once a week from Santiago to Tahiti via Easter Island, providing the availability to do a great side trip from Tahiti to Easter island.
Air Tahiti, is French Polynesia's domestic airline operates an extensive domestic flight network covering all the countries main islands, with at least a daily service. With the main Society islands receiving a number of flights a day, since Air Moorea stopped operations between Tahiti and Moorea the flight connections have become limited, most connectionsw betwen the two are now done by ferry boat.
The less populated islands get a restricted service, so sometimes a night stop in Tahiti may be required when connecting between these islands.
Air Tahiti is providing the only air service between Tahiti and the Cook islands, which they currently do once a week on a Thursday, an extra high season flight is operated between June and August
There are a number of aircraft and helicopters available for private charters, but they all tend to be based in Tahiti so arranging charters between the outer islands can be expensive as the aircraft will originate and terminate in Tahiti, starting in spring 2013, there will be a new seaplane operation availabe, the aircraft will be based in Tahiti and will be available for sightseeing tours from Papeete, as well as private transfers to the outer islands
Prices are based on a per room, per night basis for single or twin occupancy.
Additional meal plan prices available on request.
