Opened in March 2009, the contemporary Manava Suite Resort Tahiti is located on the beachfront in the town of Punaauia, on the west coast of the island, and just a 10 minute drive from Papeete town and 5 minutes from the airport. It has been designed by a Tahitian architect and reflects authentic Polynesian décor, while still offering contemporary design, modern amenities and all the comforts of home.

 

The Manava Suite Resort encompasses five separate buildings - the first housing the reception area, restaurants and 12 of the guest rooms, and the additional four buildings have the rest of guest rooms, Studios and Suites, with either city and mountain views or pool and ocean views.  With 121 Guest rooms, Studios, Suites and Duplex suites, the Resort has something to suit every budget.

 

The 12 Standard Guest Room offer 30sqm/323sqft of space, with a Queen bed, modern ensuite bathroom with separate bath and shower, complimentary toiletries and hairdryer,  work desk and chair, tea and coffee making facilities with kettle and coffee machine, mini-bar/fridge, iron and ironing board, IDD telephone, 26" flat-screen TV with cable channels, wired and Wi-Fi internet access (fee), in-room safe, air conditioning, hardwood floors, and large, louvered windows with city or mountain views.

 

The 20 Garden and 32 Lagoon View Studio Suites are 25% bigger than the Standard Guest Rooms, at 41sqm/441sqft, and as well as the Standard amenities, offer 1 King bed, modern ensuite bathroom with bath, double vanities, separate shower and complimentary toiletries, well equipped kitchen with fridge/freezer, microwave, 2-ring stove top, tea and coffee making facilities with coffee machine, sink, crockery and utensils, sitting area with sofa bed and coffee table, work desk and chair, and sliding doors opening to a private balcony with table and chairs and views over the gardens, or the pool and the lagoon.

 

The 20 Garden and 22 Lagoon Deluxe Suites provide 59sqm/635sqft of space, with similar amenities to the Studio, including the kitchen but additionally offer a king bed in a separate bedroom, a separate living and dining room, complimentary wired internet access, and doors opening to a large furnished balcony overlooking the city and gardens or the lagoon.

 

The 1-bedroom Duplex Suites are on the top floor of the buildings, and offer 77sqm/732sqft of space over 2 floors.  The upper floor encompasses the spacious bedroom with King bed, ensuite bathroom with double vanities, bath and separate shower, and sliding doors to a spacious balcony with table and sun loungers.  Downstairs there is a living/dining room with double sofa bed, a well equipped kitchen, a second WC and patio doors to a second balcony with table and chairs.

 

Some interconnecting rooms are available for families or larger groups. This would be able to give you Studios, Suites and Duplexes attached to Standard Guest Rooms or Studios to give 2-Bed or 3-Bed accommodation if required.

 

The Vaitohi Restaurant offers a varied menu of international and Polynesian Cuisine, and you can dine in the main dining room or on the terrace with views of the garden.  The contemporary Punavai Lounge bar is open from 10.00am til late serving your choice of cold refreshments, cocktails and light snack and bar food.  The cool Taapuna Pool Bar, with swim-up bar, serves cocktails, beverages and food til sunset (-ish), and has recently (Aug '18) been upgraded and extended, now offering poolside dining from the open show kitchen, dining on the new shaded terrace, and  lounging on the new sundeck.

 

And the best place to watch those gorgeous sunsets is from is the stunning free-form pool, with waterfall wall and an inifinity edge that is right up to the sea, with views over to the island of Moorea, and the 2 small sand motus just off the shore.  These 2 motus have just been developed (Jul '18) as lovely new seating and lounging areas, after the shoreline and the motus themselves were reinforced and reshape, giving a great spot to relax, sunbath and enjoy the views.

 

Twice a day there are complimentary aqua-gym classes in the pool, as well as a well-equipped fitness centre and an excursions desk that can book your choice of tours activities and adventures around the island of Tahiti and beyond.  Complimentary wired and Wi-Fi Internet access is available in the lobby and some public areas in the hotel, and the small gift shop and boutique offers a range of essentials, snacks and traditional gifts.

 

For relaxation, the Manea Spa can offer traditional Polynesian massage, as well as a range of beauty and body treatments.

 

We do not feel that this hotel, as nice as it is, is a proper resort property, so we would not suggest stays of more than 2 or 3 nights, but it's an ideal  location for your nights stop over when connecting to or from an outer island, or for a few nights exploring Tahiti island itself.
