Mark's Place is a small privately owned pension, built by Mark the Carpenter himself! He has built 7 individual, detached bungalows set in spacious tropical gardens, close to the town of Haapiti and the coastline. In fact, they are just a few hundred metres from one of the best surfing spots on the island!
The 7 Bungalows have all been hand built by Mark, and although all are different, all offer similar facilities, whilst sleeping between 2 and 6 guests. Many of the bungalows have been built with recycled materials, such as reclaimed timber, natural stones and glass bottles, giving each bungalow a unique touch.
Fare Miti is a studio-style bungalow, with an ensuite showerroom, a large living room with a bed alcove in one corner, a kitchenette in the opposite corner, with a sink, fridge, toaster, kettle and 2-ring hob, a breakfast bar, sofa, satelite TV, Wi-Fi Internet access (fee) and doors to a covered patio.
Fare Fetia sleeps 2 guests with a separate bedroom with a double bed, ceiling fan, private showerroom, living/dining room with satelite TV, stereo and Wi-Fi Internet access (fee), a kitchenette with sink, fridge, kettle, toaster and 2-ring hob, and double doors opening to your furnished deck overlooking the garden.
Fare Tiare sleeps 2 guests with a separate bedroom with double bed, ceiling fan and sliding door opening to the deck, ensuite showerroom with vanity, toilet and stone walled walk-in shower, living room with sofas, satelite TV, Wi-Fi internet access (fee) and music stereo, kitchen/diner with fridge, sink, full cooker, breakfast bar and dining table, and doors opening to a furnished covered deck with 2 additional single daybeds.
Fare Opuhi sleeps 2 guests in a separate bedroom with double bed, ensuite showerroom with walk-in shower, vanity and washing machine, a large triple aspect living room with sofas and chairs, satelite TV, Wi-Fi internet access (fee), kitchen with breakfast bar, sink, fridge, toaster, kettle, 2-ring hob and a dining table, and 3 sets of French doors, opening to the gardens on 1 side, an screen-enclosed sun room in the middle and a large furnished patio complete with barbecue.
Fare Taina sleeps up to 4 guests, with a private showerroom, a double bed in a separate bedroom and another on a loft level above the large living room, which has a full kitchen with cooker, fridge/freezer, sink, microwave and several small kitchen appliances, dining table, corner sofa, satelite TV, Wi-Fi internet access (fee), and doors opening to a private furnished deck overlooking the gardens.
Fare Mahana can sleep up to 10 guests in 4 doubles and 2 single beds. The double beds are in sleeping alcoves off the main living area and the singles are on floating platforms above the living room; not for the faint hearted! There is an ensuite shower room with a double vanity, 2 separate shower stalls and a separate toilet, a large, spacious living room with kitchenette with fridge/freezer, sink, toaster, kettle and 4-ring hob, dining table, large corner sofa, satelite TV, Wi-Fi internet access (fee), stereo and opening doors to a large covered deck overlooking the gardens.
The 2-storey Fare Manu can sleep up to 10 guests which makes it ideal for groups of friends or large families. On the ground floor is a large kitchen/diner, with sink, 2-ring hob, large fridge, toaster, kettle, breakfast bar and dining table, and an ensuite showerroom with double vanity, 2 shower stalls and 2 toilets. Outside, there is a large furnished patio overlooking the garden. Upstairs there are 4 double and 2 single beds, set into alcoves around the walls, and a large sitting area in the middle, with large corner sofa, satelite TV, Wi-Fi internet access (fee), stereo and a furnished balcony with views of the gardens.
Mark's Place does not have any catering facilities on site, as it is a self catering property, but it is close to the town of Haapiti and right on the coastal road, so supermarkets, shops, bars and restaurants are all nearby.
The property is 250m from the shoreline, and just offshore is one of the best surf breaks on the island. Kayaks are available to hire for around £7 per day, masks and fins for less than £4 per day and stand-up paddle boards can be hired nearby. There is a large white sand beach less than 10 minutes drive away and Mark offers a free transfer to the beach, then you can walk back along the shore at the end of your day. Bicycles can also be hired for approximately £7 per day and cars and scooters can be hired at the airport, ferry port or can be arranged to pick up at the property.
Mark's Place is a simple, good value property, that offers clean, basic and unique accommodation in a quiet area but close to local amenities.

Child Policy
Children of all ages are welcome and are charged as an extra person, when sharing with accompanying parents.
Airport Transfers
Private roundtrip airport/ferry port transfers can be arranged on request.
Mark's Place can arrange transfers on request, at a cost of approximately £25 from the airport and £18 from the ferry port, for up to 4 guests.
Taxis are available at both airport and the port and would cost approximately £25 from the ferry port and £32 from the airport for up to 4 guests.
The 'Le Truck' bus service to Haapiti runs past the property and costs approximately £3 per person, but may have several stops en route and may not run exactly to schedule.
Car and scooter hire is available at both the airport and ferry port, and a discounted rate is available from Avis if you mention Mark's Place. A car is recommended if you wish to explore the island or visit nearby towns, shops, bars and restaurants.

Although there are frequent
international flights into Tahiti, French Polynesia's international
gateway to the World, there are limited airports of embarkation to
choose from, with currently only Paris, Los Angeles, Auckland and
Tokyo offering single plane air service to Tahiti.
The international airline for French Polynesia. is Air Tahiti
Nui, who operate daily flights from Paris and Los
Angeles to Tahiti, and on some days there are additional fights
to/from Los Angeles. In addition, they operate two weekly flights
to/from Auckland and they serve Tokyo twice a week. Their services
to New York and Sydney have been suspended, at this
time.
Air France
currently offer a service from Paris, three times a week via Los
Angeles
Air New Zealand
operates daily flights via LA to Papeete, and 5 days a week from/to
Auckland with it's own aircraft. It also operates a codeshare
arrangements with Air Tahiti Nui providing seats on their fights
from Tahiti to Auckland and Los Angeles.
United Airlines operate 3 times
a week from San Francisco to Papeete, on Tuesday, Thursday and
Sunday, which will connect to their daily flight from
Heathrow.
Air Calin
operate a weekly flight between Noumea, in New Caledonia, and
Tahiti.
Hawaiian
Airlines provide a weekly service between Honolulu and
Tahiti, currently operating on a Saturday/Sunday schedule.
LANChile
operate a flight once a week from Santiago to Tahiti via
Easter Island, providing the availability to do a great side trip
from Tahiti to Easter island.
Air Tahiti is
French Polynesia's domestic airline, which operates an extensive
domestic flight network covering all the country's main islands,
with at least a daily service. With the main Society islands
receiving a number of flights a day, since Air Moorea stopped
operations between Tahiti and Moorea, the flight connections now to
Moorea have become limited, most connections between the two are
now done by ferry boat.
The less populated and outer islands have a restricted service, so
sometimes a night stop in Tahiti may be required when connecting to
these islands.
Air Tahiti
provide the only air service between Tahiti and the Cook islands,
which they currently do once a week on a Thursday, an extra high
season flight is operated between June and August
There are a number of aircraft and helicopters available for private charters, but they all tend to be based in Tahiti so arranging charters between the outer islands can be expensive as the aircraft will originate and terminate in Tahiti. Tahiti Nui Helicopters are one such company that operate resort transfers (where helipad available), inter-island flights and sightseeing trips. Contact us for further info.

Pricing Policy
Prices are based on a per night, per bungalow, room only basis for single or double occupancy. Extra person rates apply for multiple person occupancy
There is a daily Communal Tax in Moorea, which is paid directly to the hotel upon the guests' departure. This is currently 200 XPF (Pacific Francs - roughly EUR1.70/£1.60) which is per person, per day.
