Shangri-La's Fijian Resort is situated on the 109 acre Yanuca private island, conveniently connected to the main island by a causeway and offers a warm Fijian welcome, soft sandy beaches, palm trees and blue lagoons views. The whole resort had just gone through a complete refurbishment (late 2018) when the whole resort, including all the rooms, pools, public areas, restaurants and bars were updated. The Resort now has a more modern, contemporary feel, but still with Fijian touches
The Resort offers 442 recently refurbished (2018) guest rooms and suites, all with garden and ocean views, in 5 wings plus the detached Beach Bures. They offer Yanuca Lagoon Deluxe, Terrace, Grand Deluxe Rooms and Lagoon Suite, Ocean Deluxe, Terrace and Grand Deluxe Rooms, Reef Deluxe, Grand Deluxe And Suite plus the detached 2-Bed Yanuca Lagoon bures and 1-Bed Reef Bures. Rooms provide a king bed, ensuite bathroom with complimentary toiletries, complimentary Wi-Fi, sitting area, tea and coffee making facilities and a furnished balcony or terrace with garden and ocean views. The guest rooms generally offer the same amenities in each category, with the only difference being location, except the Grand Deluxe rooms, which are larger with a more spacious sitting area. The Suites offer a separate bedroom and living room and large balcony with lagoon views. The detached Reef and Yanuca Lagoon Bures offer 1 or 2 bedrooms, separate living and dining room and private deck overlooking the beach and lagoon. All Reef category rooms are adults only.
There are a number of dining options, including the casual al fresco Beach Bar and Grill, the adults only Golden Cowrie Coastal Italian Restaurant, varying buffets at the Lagoon Terrace Restaurant and Asian and seafood dining at the oceanside Takali Terrace Restaurant. Sunset drinks can be enjoyed at the beachside Bilo Bar or dance the night away at the brand new Black Marlin Bar and nightclub.
The beach is sand and crushed coral, and runs along the front of the whole resort overlooking the lagoon, and snorkelling and swimming is popular with guests, along with a new inflatable water fun park, just off the shore. There are 3 pools, one of which is in the new Reef adults only area, a 9-hole golf course, a well equipped gym, the CHI day Spa, which has a comprehensive treatment menu and the Sea Sports centre, which can arrange scuba diving, snorkelling, paddle boards, game fishing and much more. Plenty to keep you occupied if you wish, or you can just relax on a lounger around the pool or on the beach.
The Shangri La Fijian Resort is popular with families and there are a number of activities for children, including a Little Chiefs Kids Club, a dedicated children's pool and a playground. Children under 12 years can enjoy free buffet meals when accompanied by a paying adult.
The Shangri La Fijian Resort is in a good location on the Coral Coast, close to the Sigatoka area, activities and only 25 miles from Nadi airport. This is a great resort for families but not somewhere we would recommend for couples, especially for romantic trips or for any length of time, even with the Reef adults only areas.

Fiji has one of the best air service connections of any of the islands in the Pacific.
Fiji Airways ( was Air Pacific ) Fiji's national carrier, provides a daily service to Sydney, Auckland and Los Angeles, and frequent flights to Brisbane and Melbourne. San Francisco. Further afield it operates 5 times a week to Hong Kong, twice a week to Tokyo and 3 times a week to Singapore They also provide regular services to the neighbouring island nations of Tonga, Samoa, Vanuatu, Kiribati, Tuvulu and the Solomon Islands.
Korean Air operate three flights a week between Seoul and Nadi. On the southbound flights from Seoul a direct connection can be made off Korean Air's daily London-Seoul flight. However, on the return flight, a night stop will be required in Seoul, as the flight timings do not permit a same day connection.
Air New Zealand operates daily to/from Auckland with connections to its double-daily flights to London, either via Los Angeles or Hong Kong. Air New Zealand also operates a codeshare arrangement with Air Pacific providing seats on their non-stop Nadi-Los Angeles flights.
Virgin Australia operate a regular service from/to Sydney, with connections to many other Australian cities.
Air Calin operate twice a week between Noumea and Nadi.
Air Niugini operate a twice a week service from and to Port Moresby via Honiara to Nadi.
Pacific Sun, Fiji Airways's domestic airline subsidiary, operates an extensive domestic flight network covering all the countries main islands, with at least a daily service. The main northern islands receive at least two flights a day and some times more, the less populated islands get a restricted service, so sometimes a night stop in Nadi or Suva may be required when connecting between some of the less popular islands.
A number of the outer Island Resorts operate their own dedicated daily flights, to transfer their clients from Nadi to the resort and back, using either fixed wing commuter aircraft, seaplanes or helicopters. Further details of these will be given at the time we provide our quotation.
