The Doubletree Resort Sonaisali Island is a short 30 minute drive from Nadi airport along the main road to Suva. The resort is located on a 105 acre private island and is a 5 minute boat trip across the inlet that surrounds the resort on three sides.
Formally the Sonaisali Resort, the property was recently bought by the Hilton Group of hotels, and has had an almost 12 month period of refurbishment to renovate and refresh the resort, the facilities and accommodation, and re-opened on 23rd May 2016.
The accommodation is split between 32 hotel rooms, built in two, 2-storey blocks either side of the main reception and restaurant area, and 88 traditional Fijian thatched Bures, which are built in the gardens and offer garden view, ocean view or beachfront options.
The 32 Beachfront Guest Rooms offer a choice of 1 king or 2 queen size beds and have both air conditioning and ceiling fan ventilation. All have large en-suite bathrooms with double vanity, Wi-Fi Internet access (fee), satelite TV, DVD player, IDD telephone, clock radio, hairdryer, complimentary tea & coffee making facilities, iron & ironing board, refrigerator & mini bar, in-room safe and have private balconies with ocean views.
In addition to the hotel rooms, the Resort also offers 88 beach front Bures (bungalows) that offer all the facilities of the Hotel Rooms, plus spacious interiors, lounge area, high vaulted ceilings, natural woods and wide private verandas with beach and ocean views.
In addition to the recently remodelled Vulani Restaurant, offering an a la carte menu using seasonal local produce, as well as an extensive buffet selection, including themed nights, there is also the Tavu Bar & Grill, providing all day casual dining at the poolside Pergola. The varied menu offers a full American-style breakfast buffet, including freshly baked pastries, fresh fruits, cereals, and freshly cooked eggs, omelettes, bacon and sausages, light lunches with burgers, pizzas, sandwiches, salads and lighter entrees, and a varied dinner menu offering fresh fish, meats, vegetables and desserts, or a themed dinner buffet 4 nights a week, offering Mongolian, Indian, Fijiian Lovo Barbeque and Sunday Roast Buffets, all with fresh vegetable dishes, salads and desserts. There are also two bars in which to relax; the sunset lounge and the swim-up poolside bar.
For the energetic, the resort can provide all the complimentary activities you will need, including, tennis, volleyball, water scooters, paddle boats, windsurfing, canoeing, snorkelling, Fijiian cultural demonstrations, fish feeding and coconut tree climbing to name but ten! Additionally, the Resort owns its own 35ft luxury Catamaran, the Cagi Malua, (translates to 'soft wind' in Fijiian) with a fully equipped galley, large open decks, toilet facilities and state-of-the-art navigation and safety devices. It can carry up to 26 passengers and offers a variety of cruises and day trips to tour remote islands and coral gardens!
Other activities include island hopping boat trips, dolphin watching, snorkeling safari, Jungle safari tour, paintball skirmish, jet skiing, sport fishing, water skiing, horse riding, village tours, golf, and many other attractions and sights around the Resort and Fiji Island to experience!
If you don't fancy being energetic, you can also just relax and sample a selection of spa and beauty treaments at the Frangipani Health & Beauty Spa.
One special feature is the resort's white sand upper beach. The island's natural beach is a black sand beach which can look a little off putting, so they have imported white sand which provides a pleasant beach area for sunbathing and relaxing, which runs along the front of the resort.
The Sonaisali will give you that island feeling without the necessity of going to one of the outer islands. It is ideal for those clients who are only in Fiji for a short stay.

Fiji has one of the best air service connections of any of the islands in the Pacific.
Fiji Airways ( was Air Pacific ) Fiji's national carrier, provides a daily service to Sydney, Auckland and Los Angeles, and frequent flights to Brisbane and Melbourne. San Francisco. Further afield it operates 5 times a week to Hong Kong, twice a week to Tokyo and 3 times a week to Singapore They also provide regular services to the neighbouring island nations of Tonga, Samoa, Vanuatu, Kiribati, Tuvulu and the Solomon Islands.
Korean Air operate three flights a week between Seoul and Nadi. On the southbound flights from Seoul a direct connection can be made off Korean Air's daily London-Seoul flight. However, on the return flight, a night stop will be required in Seoul, as the flight timings do not permit a same day connection.
Air New Zealand operates daily to/from Auckland with connections to its double-daily flights to London, either via Los Angeles or Hong Kong. Air New Zealand also operates a codeshare arrangement with Air Pacific providing seats on their non-stop Nadi-Los Angeles flights.
Virgin Australia operate a regular service from/to Sydney, with connections to many other Australian cities.
Air Calin operate twice a week between Noumea and Nadi.
Air Niugini operate a twice a week service from and to Port Moresby via Honiara to Nadi.
Pacific Sun, Fiji Airways's domestic airline subsidiary, operates an extensive domestic flight network covering all the countries main islands, with at least a daily service. The main northern islands receive at least two flights a day and some times more, the less populated islands get a restricted service, so sometimes a night stop in Nadi or Suva may be required when connecting between some of the less popular islands.
A number of the outer Island Resorts operate their own dedicated daily flights, to transfer their clients from Nadi to the resort and back, using either fixed wing commuter aircraft, seaplanes or helicopters. Further details of these will be given at the time we provide our quotation.
