The Nukubati Island is a private island resort located in a sheltered cove off the northern shore of Fiji's second island of Vanua Levu, which is reached by a 40 minute seaplane flight from Nadi.
This small, family-owned, all-inclusive resort has been developed from an original family home and provides a natural extension to a gracious simple style of colonial plantation living. The guest accommodation is offered in two categories, with 4 duplex Beachfront Suites and 3 Honeymoon Bures, with light and airy decor that is a mixture of Fijian and Western styles, offering a bright a relaxing atmosphere, which are in total harmony with the island surroundings. The Beachfront Suites offer a separate bedroom with a queen-size bed, insect nets, dressing table and open wardrobe, a private bathroom with twin vanities, shower and complimentary toiletries, airy lounge area with lounge furniture, coffee table, work desk and chair, coffee and tea making facilities, mini-bar, CD player and hairdryers, ceiling fans and doors opening to a private, furnished verandah with views of the tropical gardens, the beach and the sea beyond. There is also a second private verandah off the bedroom, with a table and chairs, ideal for your morning coffee! The Honeymoon Suites offer all the same facilities as the Beachfront Suites, except that they are more spacious, with one large room, are detached and have a King size bed, larger, wrap-around verandah and a large thatched Fijian gazebo seating area to the side with great beach and ocean views.
Your dining experience at Nukubati will be well worth the journey. Seafood is the resort's speciality, which is prepared with home grown vegetables and fruits that provide a truly island cuisine. All client's dietary requirements can be catered for, including vegetarian and non-seafood diets, so you can be assured of a great eating experience. All of the fruit and vegetables are grown in their own 6 acre organic garden, and if you are partial to a drop of the grape, then you will not be disappointed, as the resort has a large selection of Australian and New Zealand wines to choose from. All meals, morning and afternoon teas and beverages (including wine and beer), are included in the price of your stay. Meals can be flexible to suit your day, and can be taken almost anywhere you choose; the Pavillion terrace, your verandah or any other romantic spot you might find! Just tell them what you would like, when and where! You can also enjoy a romantic private dinner on the beach, with a private candle-lit table, surrounded by flaming torches, the water gently lapping by your feet and the Milky Way above you.
For the active, there is the full range of complimentary, non-motorised water activities to enjoy, including stand-up paddle boards, glass bottom boats, kayaks, sailing catamarans, surfing (nearby and own board required), windsurfing, sport, fly or hand-line fishing, even traditional Fijian spear fishing, plus there is a full-size tarmac tennis court. Also, the resort is the only one with direct access to the Great Sea Reef, one of Fiji's true deep water underwater treasures, so it's a great location for the avid scuba diver, and snorkellers can experience great shallower water corals and marine life. But if you don't want to do anything, there are a number of places to sit, laze, enjoy a good book, a bit of sunbathing and relax, or enjoy a traditional Fijian massage. For a true romantic getaway, you can do their signature Sandbank Picnic. At low tide, a myriad of small sandbank islands appears through the water, and become tiny private islands just for a four or five hours,, where you can be 'shipwrecked' for a while, but with table, chairs and umbrella, blankets, towels snorkelling equipment and a champagne picnic lunch. Oh, and a 2-way radio to call your taxi home!
The 2 bars are open all day and are well-stocked with cocktails, wines, beers and spirits, plus soft drinks and juices. The Pavillion, the centre of the resort, has one of the bars, a dining room, guest lounge and a library. Every evening, as sunset approaches, the friendly staff will come and find you, wherever you may be, and bring you champagne (or drinks or cocktails of your choice), a tray of tasty hors d'oeuvres, then leave you in peace to enjoy the picture perfect sunsets that Nukubati Island is renown for.
Nukubati Island is very proud of its Fijian heritage, and all the staff are local to the islands. They welcome guests to join them in many every day activities; visit the local school, the village or the church services. You can enjoy a Meke and Kava night, a traditional Fijian BBQ night, find out about fishing and food gathering, and how to cook what you catch or find, or learn about the local pearl farm, run by the island villagers.
Nukubati Island was one of the first resort in Fiji to build its own stand alone solar power grid, back in 1990, which now has 300 solar panels, and with 4 wind generators, provides all the power for the Resort. Rainwater is harvested and hot water is provided by more than a dozen solar water heaters. All domestic and grey water is recycled, and waste water is treated using natural bio-cycle stystem and then used to irrigate the gardens. Nothing is wasted, if at all possible to recycle, reducing the amount of rubbish produced to a very small amount for the size of property.
Nukubati's location on the beach, on an island just off the coast of one of the quietest islands in Fiji, ensures you will have a truly peaceful, relaxing and romantic stay. And as children under 12 years are not allowed normally, is ideal for couples, and honeymoons. Paradise weddings and Renewal of Vows ceremonies can be arranged and, if you wish, you can hire the whole resort for your party.

Pacific Sun, Fiji Airways's domestic airline subsidiary, operates an extensive domestic flight network covering all the countries main islands, with at least a daily service. The main northern islands receive at least two flights a day and some times more, the less populated islands get a restricted service, so sometimes a night stop in Nadi or Suva may be required when connecting between some of the less popular islands.
A number of the outer Island Resorts operate their own dedicated daily flights, to transfer their clients from Nadi to the resort and back, using either fixed wing commuter aircraft, seaplanes or helicopters. Further details of these will be given at the time we provide our quotation.
