Vomo Island Resort

Vomo Island will be undertaking a programme of construction, starting 1st May 2018 for approximately 12 months.  They will be building a new pool at the Rocks Bar on the western tip of the island, and constructing 2 new residences/villas on the north coast, next to the current Palms Villa.  Some construction noise may be heard at certain times.  Please contact us if you have any questions regarding the work or the property.

Situated on the Northern edge of the Mamanuca's island chain, the Vomo Island Resort is a true boutique property, offering just 28 detached and semi-detached bungalows and 4 luxurious and spacious private villas (residences), with the majestic Mount Vomo acting as a back drop to the resort, providing a truly special setting.

Built on the north-western side of the private 225 acre island, the delightful villas offer beachfront and ocean vistas, and great sunrise and sunset views. Both the Beachfront and Hillside Villas have been very recently remodelled, in early 2015, and were completely gutted, refinished, decorated and furnished to a very high standard, with beautiful natural wood wall panelling and personally sourced handmade furniture, luxury bathrooms, with soft pastel shade soft furnishings with natural and coral colour-highlights to finish.  Sadly, just after the work was completed, the resort suffered some major structural damage from Tropical Cyclone Winston, and had to close for nearly 5 months to repair the damage, replant the gardens and clean up the mess the cyclone caused.  They all worked amazingly hard and fully re-opened on 1st September 2016, all shiny and new, AND with a whole new 3-bedroom BeacHouse with private pool available to book.

The Villas offer light and airy suites with a new Dynasty Heavenly King bed with all new cotton linens and a variety of pillows for your comfort, a walk-in wardrobe and dressing area, a luxury ensuite bathroom with a walk-in wet room-style shower, double vanities, hairdryer, and a free-standing oval jacuzzi bath tub, a sitting area with chaise longue day bed, armchair, occasional table, console desk and stool, air conditioning, ceiling fans, tea and coffee making facilities, mini bar and fridge with complimentary bottled water and soft drinks, in-room safe, CD player and sliding doors that open onto a private deck with table and chairs and sun loungers overlooking the views.  The Beachfront Villas are just in the treeline of swaying palm trees, just steps from the soft white sand and the warm sea.  The Villas on the Hill are set on the lower slopes of Mt Vomo, giving wonderful views over the gardens, island and the sea, but still only a short walk through the tropical gardens to the beach.

There are a few beachfront Beach Retreat Villas which are very similar to the Beachfront Villas, but additionally have a private outdoor courtyard with outdoor shower and free-standing oval tub, and are situated along the shoreline, just a few steps from the warm, shallow water.

If you want the ultimate in space and luxury, then the 4 large, private estate villas could be an option.  Set at one end of the resort, The Residence, The Palms, The Royal Villa and The BeacHouse offer space and privacy from the rest of the Resort, but still with an easy stroll to the main building, pool and restaurant.  The Royal is at one end of the Yasawa Beach, with the BeacHouse, the Palms and the Residence spaced out in a row along the middle of the beach.

The Residence is a 4-bedroom Fijian-style property set right on the beach and has a main house and 2 separate bedroom pavilions.  The main house has 2 separate bedrooms, each with ensuite bathrooms with outdoor courtyard showers, and an open plan and part open air living area with full kitchen, lounge area, inside and outside dining tables, and front and rear furnished terraces.  Just across a decking path are the 2 separate villas, each with a spacious bedroom with king bed, ensuite bathroom with outdoor courtyard shower, and spacious living area opening onto a private terrace.  The decking path then leads towards the beach, where you find a large sun deck with loungers and a private beachside pool.  The Residence also has your own 24 hr personal butler to serve your every need, a bottle of champagne on arrival and sunset canapes served each evening.

The Royal Villa as a stunning Fijian-style complex with 3 separate bedrooms, each with a king or 2 twin beds and ensuite bathrooms, spacious open plan and partly open air living and dining areas, full kitchen, a relaxing room with entertainment system, and expansive sun decks with sun loungers and a private pool, all situated right on the beachfront.

The brand new BeacHouse (not a spelling mistake!) is a gorgeous large detached villa, with 3 individual bedroom suites, each with walk-in wardrobes and ensuite bathrooms with outdoor courtyard showers, a central living area with full kitchen, lounge area and media room, plus a separate outdoor courtyard seating area.  On the beachside of the villa, there is a wall of glass to make the most of the sea views, and of the huge deck area, complete with covered dining area,  2 lower deck seating areas, sun loungers and a large, sparkling private pool.

The Palms is a grand 4 bedroom villa and is newest and largest of their private residences. Set amongst tranquil pools and water walls, and with its own lap pool and the sea just across the sand, the Palms is surrounded by water.  The 4 bedrooms each have a king bed (can be split into 2 twins) and a luxurious ensuite bathrooms, a large open plan living and dining room with fully fitted kitchen, a partially covered deck area that edges the pool, with loungers, dining table (seats 8) and large sectional outdoor sofas, and large sliding doors giving access to all the outdoor areas and the beach.

The Reef Restaurant offers the guest a very special gourmet experience, one of the best to be found in the Fijian islands.  All meals are included at Vomo, but with a daily changing lunch and dinner menus, you're not likely to get bored!  They grow a large amount of their own organic fruit, vegetable and salads, to compliment the freshest local fish and local and imported meat and produce, which their talented chefs turn into delicious meals every day (from their brand new FJ$500,000 Kitchen!), which you can enjoy in the dining room, around the pool terrace or on the beach.  The Vuda Bar is adjacent to the restaurant and serves a good range of international beer, wines and cocktails, and serves light snacks all through the day.  Only open for a few hours each evening, the Rocks Bar is set a little way away from the main Resort, on the far western point of the island, looking out toward Vomo Lailai (Small Vomo), Vomos' private deserted island.  The recently refurbished Rocks Bar is adults only and offers the perfect spot for fabulous sunsets accompanied by cold cocktails and great company.  The recently added extension gives added space, along with new daybeds, loiungers and decor strung along the decking edge.  On selected nights, Rocks Bar offers evening dining from their new open kitchen, and offers a variety of grill specialities.

The island has some wonderful long, white sand beaches that offer the guest a very quiet environment in which to relax and soak up the warm pacific sun, or you can swim or kayak across to Vomo Lailai, the private, deserted island with a dining gazebo and a daybed platform on a gorgeous sandy cove beach.  Gourmet picnics can be arranged for you to enjoy almost anywhere on Vomo or Vomo Lailai, and can be delivered to you with a selection of cold drinks for you to savor.

Non-motorised watersports are included in the price at Vomo, and comprise of paddle boards, glass-bottom and normal kayaks, Hobie Cat sailing boats, windsurfing, daily fish feeding and snorkeling over the beautiful coral reefs, either individually or as part of a guided excursion which leaves the beach each morning at 11.00am.  The island is surrounded by a coral reef, giving calm, protected waters to swim or snorkel in, and there is also the freshwater pool, near the restaurant, if you dont want to swim in the warm lagoon.

Excursions and tours can be arranged and include close and deep sea fishing, sunset cruises, island hopping tour, Fijiian village tour, and a surfing excursion to Cloud Break

The new onsite PADI Diving centre, with all brand new equipment, offers a range of diving courses if you would like to learn to dive, as well as escorted dives and deep, wreck, night and underwater photography dive courses, and the diving here is spectacular!

On land, the Resort offers a floodlit tennis court that has just been resurfaced (July2016), a 9-hole golf course, a fitness centre, hiking and jogging trails, badmminton and volleyball, and the well equipped day spa can offer a varied range of beauty and body treaments to relax and savor.

Kids staying at Vomo get their own village to enjoy and explore.  Accessed by a fun suspension bridge, the Kids Village is open daily and caters specifically for the younger guests.  There is an air conditioned playroom for children under 4 years and a media room, cubby house, undercover play area, dress up wardrobe and craft tables for older children.  There is also a kid-friendly BBQ area and dining tables, for the kids to enjoy lunch.  They can learn about the turtle conservation programme, take part in lots of fun, supervised activities or even learn to dive, with a Bubble Blowers course in the main pool.

As part of the refurbishment and then subsequent repairs after the storm, the resort has replaced all roofs, windows, doors and air conditioning units, re-designed and re-planted many of the garden areas, built a new, spacious reception area, replaced the decking around the pool and Vuda Bar giving additional seating and dining spaces, installed new outdoor play equipment and have bought a brand new minibus, the 'Bula Bus' to transport guests around the island.

Vomo Island Resort offers a private paradise in the middle of the Pacific, yet still close enough to the main islands to explore and experience all they have to offer; if you actually want to leave this utopian wonderland.  Both the relaxing and the dining experience here will be a treat, you won't want to depart.
