Set on a long, white sand beach in a sheltered cove, lined with palm trees, green lawns and rock-stewn streams, the new Tropica Island Resort is an adults only paradise. Located on the site of a previous property, the Tropica Island Resort was closed for over a year in 2012-13 whilst the Resort was rebuilt, upgraded, refurbished and completely remodelled, to now give you a gorgeous island idyll to laze your days away in.
The Tropica Island Resort is on the island of Malolo, and is only 16 miles/25km from the main international airport at Nadi. You can get here by South Sea Cruises catamaran which operates 3 times a day and takes between 55 minutes and 2 hours, depending on the route taken around the islands, take a 30-40 minute private speed boat or water taxi, or splash out and take the 10 minute seaplane journey, with incredible views as you fly over the islands.
They were committed to being as eco friendly as possible when renovating the resort, and made sure that as much of the materials as possible were bought locally from the surrounding islands, and that all the work was given to local craftsmen, even getting them to build a lot of the furniture in the bures from scratch, and using local timber, too. The gardens have been landscaped in an organic style with natural rock walls and streams running through, and they are in the process of planting and organic fruit and vegetable kitchen garden, to provide them with fresh fruit and veg, grown on site.
The Resort offers 3 categories of accommodation, 14 Resort Rooms, 12 Beachfront Bures and 4 Deluxe Beachfront Suites, all completely refurbished and modernised, to offer cool, contemporary rooms with decorative Fijian touches. Local craftsmen created not only the major construction work, such as the designer bathrooms, river rock showers and the bures themselves, but also hand crafted traditional furniture, such as the king beds, sofa/day beds, coffee tables and desks and chairs, all using local timber and traditional methods.
The Resort Rooms are located along the hillside above the beach in single storey buildings, and offer 1 king or 2 twin beds, fully tiled ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower and complimentary toiletries, hairdryer, air conditioning, tea and coffee making facilities, small table and chairs, iron and ironing board and mini fridges (on request) and louvered windows with views over the garden down to the beach. For travellers on a slightly tighter budget, these rooms are ideal.
The detached Beachfront Bures are right on the white sand beach and provide 1 king and 1 single/day bed, an ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower, hair dryer, complimentary toiletries and a private outdoor courtyard with river rock shower, air conditioning, ceiling fans, tea and coffee making facilities, mini fridge, iron and ironing board, rustic desk and chair, large louvered windows to let the breezes through, and a private deck with swing seat and steps down to the beach.
The Duplex Deluxe Beachfront Suites offer similar amenities to the Beachfront Bures except they are more spacious and with some additional facilities. They have 1 King bed and 2 single/day beds, walk in wardrobe area, large ensuite bathroom with double vanity, walk in shower and private courtyard river rock shower, rustic coffee table, iPod docking station and a private deck with swing seat overlooking the beach and the ocean.
Dining at Tropica Island is an open air affair, with the restaurant next to the pool and overlooking the beach and the ocean. Offering a buffet breakfast and an a la carte lunch and dinner menu offering a combination of international and local cuisine, as well as themed buffet nights throughout the week. Situated right at the waters' edge, the Sunset Bar offer a more casual menu of snacks and light bites, as well as a full bar, and is an ideal spot for drinks or cocktails with stunning sunset views. Private romantic dining can also be arranged, on the beach or under the jetty bure, or they can pack you a picnic for your days out exploring. As part of the renovation of the resort, they plan to build the Point Bar, which will be a 2-storey bure with bar and seating area and panoramic views across the lagoon, and will be an ideal place for a sunset wedding, sunset cocktails or to enjoy a traditional Fijian Barbecue.
There are a range of activities to enjoy at Tropical Island, including complimentary non-motorised watersports, such as kayaking, snorkelling right of the jetty, stand up paddle boarding and hobie cats for guests use. They also arrange cultural activites such as basket or hat weaving, coconut husking, kava ceremonies, and nightly entertainment. You can play beach volleyball and petanque (boules), go hiking through the jungle, or for a small charge, the resort can arrange fishing and scuba diving trips, island hopping days or village visits, to name just a few ideas.
And if you want to stay in resort, there is an impressive infinity pool overlooking the beach, (and right next to the bar!) and the Tropica Day Spa, the Serenity Spa by Senikai Spas, offering a range of beauty and body treatments, massages, facials manicures and pedicures. Just lay back and relax!

Korean Air operate three flights a week between Seoul and Nadi. On the southbound flights from Seoul a direct connection can be made off Korean Air's daily London-Seoul flight. However, on the return flight, a night stop will be required in Seoul, as the flight timings do not permit a same day connection.

Virgin Australia operate a regular service from/to Sydney, with connections to many other Australian cities.
Air Calin operate twice a week between Noumea and Nadi.
Air Niugini operate a twice a week service from and to Port Moresby via Honiara to Nadi.
Pacific Sun, Fiji Airways's domestic airline subsidiary, operates an extensive domestic flight network covering all the countries main islands, with at least a daily service. The main northern islands receive at least two flights a day and some times more, the less populated islands get a restricted service, so sometimes a night stop in Nadi or Suva may be required when connecting between some of the less popular islands.
A number of the outer Island Resorts operate their own dedicated daily flights, to transfer their clients from Nadi to the resort and back, using either fixed wing commuter aircraft, seaplanes or helicopters. Further details of these will be given at the time we provide our quotation.
