Surrounded by a double necklace of live coral reefs and brilliant white sand beaches, the romantic Matamanoa Island Resort lies some 23 kilometres from Nadi, with transfers either 10 minutes by air or 40 minutes by scenic boat ride. The beautiful private island is a romantic haven, as no children under 16 and no day trippers are allowed, so you only have to share the beautiful beach with a few other guests.
The resort offers 3 categories of accommodation; Resort Rooms, Beachfront Bures and Deluxe Beachfront Villas, all offering very attractive island decor, vaulted traditional painted tapa ceilings, and Italian tile or hardwood flooring. All the Resort Rooms and Beachfront Bures were completely refurbished between November 2010 and February 2011 and the new Deluxe Villas were only just recently built, so are all very new.
The Resort Rooms are located in a single storey building in a tropical garden setting to the rear of the beach bures and close to the central resort with the restaurant and pool area. They offer a King bed (or 2 Single beds on request), a modern en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower , a mini bar and refrigerator, tea and coffee making facilities, air conditioning, and door opening to a private deck with table and chairs, overlooking the tropical gardens and just a short stroll to the beach and all the resorts' facilities. We believe these rooms offer one of the best value accommodations to be found in the Fijian islands.
The Beachfront Bures all offer a King size bed in a separate bedroom area, work desk and chair, en-suite bathroom with shower and double vanities, separate living area with a single day/sofa bed, granite-topped mini bar, refrigerator, and tea and coffee making facilities, and French doors opening to your private veranda with table and 4 chairs, daybed gazebo and private plunge pool. All the bures are positioned in a garden setting with an unrestricted beachfront facing view with either sunrise or sunset aspect.
The Deluxe Beachfront Villas, all built recently, are situated right on the pretty and secluded North Beach, and feature a split level sleeping and living area, with a king bed, en-suite bathroom with double vanities and private outdoor shower, air conditioning, work desk and chair, living area with single daybed/sofa and chair, wet bar with mini-bar, fridge and tea and coffee making facilites, with French doors opening onto a private covered deck with a private plunge pool and a separate day bed gazebo to the side
The Vale Ni Blau Restaurant (House of Waves) offers a daily continental breakfast including fresh fruits, cereals, breads, spreads and preserves, pancakes, croissants, pastries and muffins, tasty lunch offerings of sandwiches, stir fry, salads and pastas, and an international and traditional Fijian dinner menu, serving fresh seafood, local and imported meat and poultry and fresh vegetables and salads. Guests can have a la carte lunch or dinner, or book the meal plans, either half board, including full breakfast and dinner,or full board for 3 meals a day. Drinks, except tea and coffee, are not included in any of the meal plans. The cocktail bar offers nightly entertainment, along with a well stocked bar with beers, good international wines, spirits and cocktails.
Water and beach activities are many and varied, offering snorkelling equipment amd lessons, wind surfing, water-skiing, kayaks, hobie cat sailing, fishing, beach games and traditional Fijian crafts. The beautiful infinity edge pool is set just infront of the main building and restaurant and overlooks the beautiful beach and lagoon. The Resort has its own PADI approved dive centre for those who would like to go scuba diving or obtain their PADI licence. Excursions and tours can be booked including island hopping and tours, escorted scuba and snorkelling safaris, sunset cruises, fishing trips, village and church visits or a yacht cruise to Tom Hanks's Castaway island.
The resort offers a state-of-the-art indoor/outdoor spa, hidden amongst the trees a few metres along the beachfront from the main complex. The Spa offers many relaxing experiences and body and beauty treatments, to soothe, pamper and rejunvenate.
Matamanoa is a real island retreat, a great place to escape from the world and unwind, a paradise for lovers of all ages, as the resort does not allow children under 16 years.

Fiji Airways ( was Air Pacific ), Fiji's national carrier, provides a daily service to Sydney, Auckland and Los Angeles, and frequent flights to Brisbane and Melbourne. San Francisco San Francisco. Further afield it operates 5 times a week to Hong Kong, twice a week to Tokyo and 3 times a week to Singapore They also provide regular services to the neighbouring island nations of Tonga, Samoa, Vanuatu, Kiribati, Tuvulu and the Solomon Islands.
Korean Air operate three flights a week between Seoul and Nadi. On the southbound flights from Seoul a direct connection can be made off Korean Air's daily London-Seoul flight. However, on the return flight, a night stop will be required in Seoul, as the flight timings do not permit a same day connection.
Air New Zealand operates daily to/from Auckland with connections to its double-daily flights to London, either via Los Angeles or Hong Kong. Air New Zealand also operates a codeshare arrangement with Air Pacific providing seats on their non-stop Nadi-Los Angeles flights.
Virgin Australia operate a regular service from/to Sydney, with connections to many other Australian cities.
Air Calin operate twice a week between Noumea and Nadi.
Air Niugini operate a twice a week service from and to Port Moresby via Honiara to Nadi.
Pacific Sun, Fiji Airways's domestic airline subsidiary, operates an extensive domestic flight network covering all the countries main islands, with at least a daily service. The main northern islands receive at least two flights a day and some times more, the less populated islands get a restricted service, so sometimes a night stop in Nadi or Suva may be required when connecting between some of the less popular islands.
A number of the outer Island Resorts operate their own dedicated daily flights, to transfer their clients from Nadi to the resort and back, using either fixed wing commuter aircraft, seaplanes or helicopters. Further details of these will be given at the time we provide our quotation.
