The Hotel Altiplanico is located on the west coast within a few hundred metres of some of the amazing moai and close to 2 local museums.   Situated on 3.5 acres, with panoramic views over the Pacific Ocean, the hotel is near to Hanga Roa town and the airport, 10 minutes by car or 20-25 minutes walk, and far enough away to be quiet and peaceful.

Designed in the traditional boathouse style, the Altiplanico has just 16 detached bungalows,  in 3 semi circular complexes, linked by pathways of stone or grass to each other and the main building.  Each room has ensuite facilities with a shower open to outside, king size or 2 twin beds on a 4-poster bed platform and doors opening to a private terrace with sea views surrounded by manavai (traditional volcanic rock walls) of different heights and widths, adding to their organic charm.   They are decorated in a traditional but clean simple design giving a spacious airy feeling.

There is a restaurant specialising in local and South American cuisine, bar with daily happy hour and music and a small swimming pool surrounded by grass lawns and extensive gardens.  The bar and restaurant are covered but open to the gardens which is lovely while it is warm but may be a little cool in colder months.

They grow a selection of their own food on site and guests will find pineapple plants and citrus and banana trees all around the property.

This hotel is small and friendly but if you were staying more than 1 or 2 nights, where a taxi would suffice, we would recommend hiring a car to visit Hanga Roa town for shopping or dining.
